Students passing through the sacred straw ring called Chinowa
Time flies. The year 2017 has already passed half a year. Shinto shrines set sacred rings in front of main halls on the late June. It is believed that people can remove their impurities gathered for the past half of the year by doing a ritual. By doing this and pray to the gods, they feel refreshed and live healthy toward the end of the year. There is a rule about how to go through sacred rings. This photo was taken at Yushima Tenjin Shrine in the Bukyo ward in Tokyo, where is close to my two tour courses of both Discovery of Japan's modern architecture & Gardens and Former Residence of Great Artist in Yanaka & Ueno Free Tour. There are many stories to talk about Yushima Tenjin Shrine. If you are interested in annual events, please join my tour.
