Hokumon Shrine, the northernmost shrine of Japan, had a festival . (July 4 - July 6)
Reitaisai(例大祭), the most important and annual festival, was held on July 5th.
Mikoshi watari, a parade of the portable shrine which is carried on the shoulders by people wearing "happi" coats and shouting "Wasshoi, wasshoi", was held this morning.
Celebration started July 4th and continued to July 6th. During this period, there were other events related to Shinto.
The downtown area was decorated with stalls selling various products such as local food, toys, and so much more!
We had gusets fromThailand on July 6th. We visited Seto old house and Hokumon shrine. Also, we enjoyed strolling through Chuo arcade with many festive stalls. Our tour was reported in a news paper "Hokkaido Shinbun"!
I think they immersed themselves in one of the most festive celebrations in Wakkanai.
