I started "Live virtual experience" in 2020 during pandemic.
My first tour request was one of world famous game company for their online event.
After its success, I have been doing for other company's event and for individuals in abroad from 2020 - present, 2024.
My virtual tour style is a live walking tour in Asakusa or Akihabara. "Live" is important and meaningful for me.
This style have been done by only a few guides in Tokyo because many people thought it's difficult and not tried.
It was challenging for me since it's completely new tour style and no examples around. Totally new experience!
However I have a strong passion to send a message what's happen in Japan during COVID and find a way to be a tour guide.
So, what's the motivation of starting virtual tour behind?
There were 4 reasons to cheer myself up.
1.I wanted to built a new possible way to show the real Japan, what's going on here under COVID for foreign guests.
2.I've experienced tour for mobility challenged customers several times because I also have a license of register nurse. If this new way would work, I thought it might be a helpful for the people who have physical difficulties. Then actually, I gifted some free virtual tours for my mobility challenged customers who joined my tour in Japan.
3.I know not all the people could visit Japan because of the situation that they have, (economy, far, dispute, etc,,,) but if this style could work and connect all over the world, that would be nice. It become a chance to know other countries and broaden their horizon. Better understanding each other could help to lead a peace.
4. I wanted to keep my guiding skills even I couldn't meet real guests under COVID.
I am glad that I've been doing it for the last 2 years and met new people in all over the world. I could get new perspective, skills and built a new relationship with local shop owners, artisans, guides and many people in Tokyo.
The restriction lifted from October 11th, 2022. Travelers can visit Japan with no visa, again.
I started real tour for foreign travelers from October 2022 as well as keeping a virtual tour.
