On Dec 30th 2019 I took 10 guests from Canada, on Dec 31st 4 guests from USA to Kyoto scenic spots.
Nijo Castle
Guests enjoyed the start of the tour in front of the east gate of Nijo castle.
Kitano Tenmangu Shrine
Sugawara-no-Michizane, the god of academic achievement, is enshrined in Kitano Tenmangu. A mouse is printed in the large wooden votive tablet on the front gate. It is 2020's Chinese zodiac.
He was born in the year of cow, so in the precincts we see a lot of cow statues. It is believed petting cow makes you smart.
Kiyomizu Temple
We visit Kiyomizu Temple. Actually the main hall has been under renovation since 2017 and it is scheduled that the work will be finished in March 2020.
Fushimi Inari Taisha
has ranked TOP in the ranking of most popular sightseeing spots in Japan by foreign tourists 5 years in a row.
Monkey Park
There are about 130 monkeys in Iwateyama mountain, about 160 meters above sea level. We walk to the top of the mountain about 20 minutes. Guests enjoyed feeding fruits to monkeys.
From the top of the montain, you can see a panoramic view of Kyoto city.
