Sumo Arena near Ryogoku station in Tokyo
Do you know sumo? If so, have you ever seen sumo match? Grand Sumo Tournaments are held six times a year. Each sumo tournament is fifteen days long. In January, May and September, tournaments are held in Tokyo. In March in Osaka, in July in Nagoya and in November in Fukuoka. Therefore, in the case of Grand Tournaments, we can see sumo matches only 90 days a year. Sumo has a long history which is found in the 8th century mythology text. Recentry, the popularity of sumo has increased more and more. It is getting more difficult to get a ticket. I have ever been to Ryogoku Sumo Arena once 6 years ago, and enjoyed watching the tournament. It's memorable. What is interesting about sumo is that a small wrestler(incredibly agile!) often beat a huge wrestler. The highest position of sumo wrestlers is called Yokozuna or grand champion. Enjoying watching sumo is to deepen understanding of Japanese culture. I would like to talk about sumo with you. Why don't you join me?
