Since the operation started in 1872, Japan's railway system has highly developed. A total of distance which the super express train or Shinkansen runs, has extended from 550 km in the starting year of 1964 to 3,300 km. Besides the Shinkansen, the Magnetic Levitation railway system plans to start operation from Tokyo to Nagoya in 2027, where two metropolitan areas 280 km away from each other will be connected in only 40 minutes. I recommend you visit the Railway Museum. In addition to a study tour, in the Museum, you can experience various attractions such as simulations of a train driver and so on.
