The mythology texts written in the eighth century says that the first Emperor, Emperor Jinmu was a descendant of Amaterasu Omikami or the Sun Goddess. He ascended to the throne in 660 BC. Ise Jingu in Mie prefecture, which is the highest status of about 80,000 shrines in Japan, enshrines Amaterasu Omikami. In my home, there is a family shinto altar in which an amulet obtained from Ise Shrine is reposed. Ise Shrine is a spiritual home for the Japanese. Even in Tokyo, there is also Ise Jingu.
