School trips are one of the memorable school events for most of the students in Japan. It's totally where they live in the country that makes them decide where they are going on a school trip. I live in the northern Japan, and the junior high school students here visit Tokyo Disneyland in Chiba, near Tokyo on their school trips. High school students, on the other hand, are allowed to go further on their trips, and Universal Studio in Japan (USJ) is one of the popular places as their destination as well as Kyoto, the ancient capital of Japan.
Now the bullet train or 'shinkansen' services have extended in several directions from Tokyo, so it's very convenient for students to travel by bullet train. It takes about 3 hours to get to Tokyo from Aomori, about 700km north of Tokyo and another 3 hours from Tokyo to Kyoto in the Kansai Area.
