Wudang Mountain Scenic Area Gate to Prince's Slope

Customer and guide take private transportation car together to enter the Wudang Mountain. Half hour walking to the first spot Taizipo. Taizipo (Prince’s Slope) is a scenic and cultural site in the Wudang Mountains. It lies on the main ascent route from the foothills to the core Taoist temple complex, acting as a transitional zone between secular space and the sacred mountain interior. It is both a natural slope and an architectural passage shaped by Taoist thought and Ming Dynasty planning.

The name “Prince’s Slope” is linked to legends of a royal figure who once practiced cultivation here, and it also symbolizes the “prince’s path,” representing the early stage of spiritual transformation from ordinary life toward enlightenment.

Its most famous feature is the “Nine-Bend Yellow River Wall,” a long winding structure guiding visitors through repeated turns and visual barriers. Together with the “one mile, four gates” layout, it creates a slow, indirect walking route. The curved design encourages reflection and reflects Taoist ideas of softness, flexibility, and non-linearity.

Developed in the Ming Dynasty under Emperor Yongle, Taizipo became part of the imperial expansion of the Wudang complex, serving as a gateway guiding pilgrims from everyday space into sacred territory.

Today, it remains one of the most visited areas in the Wudang Mountains, offering a gradual transition from noise to silence and from the human world toward spiritual elevation.

12:00 PM

Lunch pot in the middle of mountain

Customer and guide walk together to the lunch spot at the middle of mountain. Enjoy the lunch for local food.

01:00 PM

Nanyan / Golden Palace

Customer and guide walk together into Nanyan. Nanyan (South Cliff Palace) is one of the most spectacular and important temple complexes in the Wudang Mountains, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its Taoist architecture and sacred landscape. Located on a steep cliffside in the mid-to-upper mountain area, Nanyan is often described as the most dramatic and visually striking of the “36 cliffs of Wudang,” combining natural rock formations with carefully constructed palatial buildings.

The most distinctive feature of Nanyan is its extreme cliff-hanging construction. The entire complex is built directly against vertical rock faces, with buildings, terraces, and pathways seemingly suspended above deep valleys. The famous “Tianyi Zhenqing Palace” and the legendary Dragon Head Incense Burner (Longtouxiang, now protected and restricted) highlight the site’s extraordinary engineering skill and spiritual symbolism.

The spatial experience of Nanyan is highly symbolic. The winding ascent from narrow cliff paths to open viewing platforms creates a psychological progression from tension to release and finally elevation. This movement reflects the Taoist cultivation journey—from stillness and discipline to spiritual transcendence.

Nanyan remains one of the most visited and revered areas of the Wudang Mountains, valued for its breathtaking cliff spiritual atmosphere

Customer can also choose to go to Golden Palace with the guide. It‘s higher than Nanyan, take more 25 minutes walking.

03:00 PM

Purple Cloud Palace

Customer and guide walk to Purple Cloud Palace. Wudang Mountains’s Zixiao Palace (Purple Cloud Palace) is one of the most important Taoist temples in China and a key architectural complex within the UNESCO World Heritage site of Wudang Mountain. Originally built during the Song Dynasty and extensively expanded in the Ming Dynasty, the palace reflects the peak of traditional Chinese Taoist architecture and imperial craftsmanship.

Nestled against the mountains and surrounded by ancient forests, Zixiao Palace was designed according to Taoist principles of harmony between humanity and nature. The complex features layered courtyards, red walls, golden roofs, stone terraces, and richly decorated halls. Its main buildings include the Dragon and Tiger Hall, the Stele Pavilion, and the Purple Heaven Hall, where Taoist ceremonies and martial arts traditions are still practiced today.

The palace is closely connected with Taoism’s internal cultivation culture and the legendary development of Wudang martial arts, which later influenced Tai Chi and other internal Chinese martial arts systems. Throughout history, emperors of the Ming Dynasty highly respected Wudang Taoism and sponsored the construction of grand temples here.

Today, Zixiao Palace remains an active Taoist temple and a cultural symbol of Chinese spirituality, architecture, and martial arts heritage. Visitors from around the world come to experience its peaceful atmosphere, historical significance, and unique scenery.
