Departure to Neuschwanstein Castle

The drive to Neuschwanstein takes us through the picturesque Bavarian pre-alpine landscape and past two of the most beautiful Rococo churches in Bavaria. If time permits, we will make a short stop at one of them.
Schwangau / Neuschwanstein Castle
As soon as we've arrived in Schwangau, the first thing I will do is pick up the tickets (at least 1.5 hours before tour start). There is a special skip-the-line-entrance for official tour guides so that we don't have to queue. Afterwards there are 2 options to get to the castle entrance:
a) Bus ride to Mary's Bridge (10 min.) with the best view of the castle - then a walk to the castle (approx. 15 min.)
b) Ascent to the castle (approx. 25 min.) - optionally further ascent to the Mary's Bridge (15 min.) and back to the castle
Then I will take you to the guided tour (35 minutes and 10 more minutes on your own) and collect you at the exit. The way back to the parking is a walk of about 20 minutes downhill.
Onward journey to Linderhof Palace (ca. 50 minutes)
Linderhof Palace
Linderhof Palace is the smallest palace of King Ludwig II, but at the same time the only one that was completed. Picturesquely embedded in the Graswang Valley, Ludwig took refuge here in the dream world of the French Baroque and the fairytale Orient, in stark contrast to Neuschwanstein, where the Middle Ages were the model. A neo-baroque jewel awaits you here in a fascinating landscape park.
Onward journey to Oberammergau (20 min.)
Oberammergau
Although Oberammergau is world famous for the Passion Play, much of its original charm has been retained. Get to know the history of the picturesque village and the Passion Play, the colorful fresco-painted facades and the famous wood carvers on a short tour.

** This tour is not suitable for people with impaired mobility, as both the way to the castle and the many stairs in the castle require a certain level of physical fitness.
** Access to the Mary's Bridge is not possible in winter, there may be waiting times in the high season.
** Latest start in Munich at 9, better 8 or 7:30, especially on weekends and in the high season.
** Take your passports with you, as we may cross Austria
** All bookings are subject to ticket availability, but normally tickets can be organized even at very short notice because of on-site contacts to a local
** Itinerary based on pre-covid conditions, there might be changes when the castle is reopened
Important message from the guide
Transportation will be carried out with a Volkswagen Sharan that is licensed as taxi. The vehicle has air conditioning and a glass panoramic roof so that you have an excellent view of the sights from all seats. The 3rd seat row has less foot space but is comfortable for 2 passengers up to 175 cm/70 inches.
