Departure to Harburg Castle
Harburg Castle is one of the oldest and best preserved castles in southern Germany. A stroll through the castle courtyard is an ideal opportunity to stretch your feet halfway to Rothenburg. Or get to know the castle better and take part in a guided tour in which you will see the dungeons, the battlements and various interiors (ca. 1 hour).
Onward journey to Dinkelsbühl (ca. 45 min.)
The historic town of Dinkelsbühl is another possibility to meet the Middle Ages. The intact medieval townscape with winding streets and cobblestone squares with many half-timbered houses invite you to make a short stop on the way to Rothenburg.
Onward journey to Rothenburg (ca. 35 min.)
We start our tour in Rothenburg with a drive around the medieval city walls, which leads us through the picturesque Taubertal valley and offers spectacular views of Rothenburg's medieval skyline. Within the city walls I will tell you the history of Rothenburg, show you the best photo spots and guide you to the most important sights of the city:
** Medieval Crime Museum - jurisdiction in former centuries
** Old Town Hall - great view over the roofs of the town
** Plönlein - inspiration for Walt Disney's Pinocchio
** Old Craftsman House - unpretentious life in the past
** walkable battlements and city gates
** Käthe Wohlfahrt's Christmas World
And there will be enough time for you to stroll through the city at your own pace (shopping, lunch, museums etc.)
