I' ll offer the "Kendo experience" for foreign people.
Kendo is a traditional martial art closely related to samurai, and very genteel sport. I'll show you the ropes, from the proper etiquette to some kendo moves ,so enjoy experiencing what if felt like to be a real samurai ! You can also wear the Kendo uniform during the practice and even gear if you want to.

Meet at Yokohama ---arrive at the gymnasium---change clothes for Kendo uniform---explain Kendo etiquette---practice some Kendo moves with a bamboo sword---try doing Kendo techniques---do finishing meditation---go back to Yokohama Station

“Great experience for entire family!”
We loved this class! Our family (13 & 10 year old) had a great time learning Samurai. Mayumi was very patient teaching us the history and the different techniques. The end of our time together we were able to spar, which was all of our favorite.

“Wonderful Kendo Experience”
Mayumi was absolutely wonderful from the beginning. She ensured our ability to meet her at the training facility, since we drove instead of taking the train. She was outside in the cold, waiting for us and made certain we had a place to park. Upon arrival, we were able to change into our Kendo gear for our lesson. She had her daughter with her and they proceeded to teach us the basics of Kendo and let us know why we were doing things rather than just how. It was great having her daughter there, so she could demonstrate on her while we both watched. Mayumi ensured we developed a basic level of competency, so we could actually do the exercises. In the end my friend and I got to put on the armor and actually spar each other as though we were fighting in a tournament. Before we left Mayumi ensured we had the opportunity to meet the senior Kendo instructor, who made us feel extremely welcome in his school. Both my friend and I are looking forward to returning for more lessons.

We have had to postpone our kendo session due to unforeseen illness but Mayumi was extremely sympathetic and accommodating to our request to reschedule. Very much appreciated. We will write a full review once we have the session - we are looking forward to it!
