After extensive research into private guides, we are so happy and lucky we found Eric! He is amazing! He is very knowledgeable about Kyoto, Osaka, Japan history, and he navigated the train/subway system with ease. We were traveling in a party of 7 with a wheelchair (grandpa can only walk short distances) and an 8 month old baby, so we had to take a lot of elevators. He was very patient and even in the bustle of people at the train stations, he kept everything calm and we did not feel rushed. We were able to see everything he had planned out on our itinerary - which for two days was impressive! Day 1 Kyoto: We saw the Fushimi Inari Shrine with 1000 Tori, Kyoto Imperial Palace, ate lunch at a popular Japanese “fast food” (Nakai - although fast it was so yummy!), Ginkakuji (the golden temple) and Nijo Castle. We were back early enough to explore Kyoto station and went to Kyoto tower at night! Day 2: We went to the beautiful Arashiyama bamboo forest then took a train to Osaka, where we saw Osaka castle, went to the Osaka History museum for a great indoor view of the castle (it was over 100 degrees so Eric wanted to give us an air-conditioned option), the famous Doutonbori street, and then the Umeda Sky Building. We had such a great time and Eric was so thoughtful and we learned so much from him. We would definitely recommend him without reservation to anyone looking for a private tour guide!!!
