We had the pleasure of spending two separate days with Mitsuru. He was the best guide we could have asked for. We initially booked him for the day after we arrived to show us around Tokyo, but more importantly to teach us how to get around. He met us at our hotel, and we immediately felt comfortable with him. He showed us not only how to use the subway, but what all the signs meant, what to look for, and how to top up our cards when needed. By the end of the day, we had not only seen many sights, learnt a lot of history, learnt many customs, but most importantly felt comfortable getting around on our own. He also engaged well with the kids (Aged 19, 17, & 11) and made them all feel comfortable and happy to ask questions. We then booked Mitsuru to take us on a day trip to see Mt Fuji. We mentioned that we wanted to experience a bullet train, so he met us at the hotel, explained to us the day he had planned, taking into account everything we had told him, and off we went. We took the bullet train out, had lots of activities in and around Hakone, including seeing Mt Fuji. He introduced us to some local delicacies, and then we took the romance train back to Tokyo. All in all he was exactly what we were after, the kids all loved him (in fact our 11y.o wanted to go home with him), he was considerate, engaging, easy to understand, and happy to go at our pace. We would highly recommend him as a guide to anyone.
Hey Cass, oh you guys are so easygoing.. cheers Aussies!! Since the 1st contact with Andrew, I could fell we were all going to spend a great time! Thanks for trusting on my recommendation for both Tokyo and Hakone! We really had so much fun in both days!! Remember the waitress in Tokyo? She took tons of pics and only one was good! ?, on the other hand the waitress in Hakone took us the best pic of our days!! Btw, Hakone day was also so nice, covered by snow everywhere and we couldn’t take better pics!! Especially at Mt. Owakudani and around the lake, where you guys quickly found a great similarity with Queenstown in NZ! Ah, not to mention of throwing snowballs, OMG I miss Jack! ?. It was great for me to customize this tour, showing you guys how to get bullet train from the crowded Tokyo station and return to Tokyo from a different path and type of train. I am so glad to hear that you feel more confident after so many experiences on the complex, but efficient Japanese transportation system! See you guys in VIC or hopefully in QLD in the near future! Hugs and thank you guys again for everything! ? Mitsuru - Tokyo
