Sometimes you had better choose the day when you visit somewhere when you travel. Some places are opened to public or not, depending on the day or certain period.

Ruriko-in is opened to public during only three months in spring and two months in autumn. You will be amazed at the beautiful reflection of green maple leaves on the table. Then we will enjoy visiting Sanzen-in and Hosen-in in Ohara. I recommend you visit on weekdays to avoid waiting for a long time in the long line at Ruriko-in.

Meeting Point

Keihan Demachi Yanagi Station (If you want me to pick you up at your hotel, the meeting time should be at 8:30 at your hotel and we may use a taxi to Demachi Yanagi Station.

Ruriko-in : This temple is opened to public only 3 months from spring to summer and 2 months in autumn. You will be amazed at its beautiful reflecion of green maple leaves on the table.

If you are interested in taking pictures, you can take wonderful pictures!

Sanzen-in: You can enjoy walking in the precinct covered with moss and Japanese cedar trees.

In the 2nd week of June, you can also enjoy many beautiful hydrangeas at Sanzen-in.

Hosen-in: You can have maccha green tea in front of the garden (huge pine tree which is 700 years old)

Keihan Demachi Yanagi Station (I will tell you how to go back to your hotel from there)

Entrance fee: Ruriko-in, 2000 Japanese yen

Sanzen-in, 700 Japanese yen

Hosen-in, 800 Japanese yen (including maccha and sweet)

Tour Important Information

For your reference, Ruriko-in will be opened to public during April 15 to June 13 and July 15 to August 17 in 2022 (10:00 ~ 17:00)

Meeting time is flexible, however, to avoid many people, I recommend you start this tour at 9:00 and be in front of Ruriko-in before 10:00.

After spending about an hour in Ruriko-in, we will take a bus to Ohara.

As for Monday, Tuesday, Wednesdays and Thursdays, I will manage to have this tour if you book me earlier.

Important message from the guide

If you book me early, I can exchange mails with you many times to know what you want to do in details, collect information and prepare a lot for your plan. Please don't hesitate to ask me anything in advance.

I can guide you in the morning almost every day.(from 8:30 or 9:00 AM till 13:00 or 13:30PM)

This year, in case of the full day tour, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, are available.

“A magical day in Kyoto.”

There are no perfect tours but this one is very close.It's a perfect itinerary to see the most important parts of Kyoto without being in a rush.We managed to visit "the cream of the crop" in terms of temples and shrines. Arashiyama forest as well, which is a beautiful and must see place. The trip was over 9 hours but we didn't get bored or tired. Not at all. Tomoe is a very knowledgeable and kind person. She answered all of our questions. And even recommend a nice place for lunch, and suggest what we can do or visit on our free day. Definitely recommend.

“Great experience in Nara and Osaka.”

You can't go wrong with a guide like Tomoe. She is very kind and helpful. Also got a touch with the details. At the same time she is always aware where everybody is and keeps up a good pace, not so fast, not too slow. She always takes notes and tries to improve after every tour. Maybe one day for Nara and a part of Osaka it's a bit too tight, but overall a great experience with excellent guide service. I'll always recommend her.

“2 day Nara and Kyoto tour ”

Tomeo was highly recommended to me by my friend and needless to say, she did not disappoint at all. From the moment I contacted Tomeo, she was very responsive and even opened up her schedule to accommodate 2 days travel guide for me. She took into consideration we were traveling with young children and elderly as well. She made sure to stop for bathroom breaks which was important for the young and mature! She took time in explaining the history of the places we visited and took us to all the sights we wanted to see. She made local food recommendations which turned out to be one of our favorites. Having Tomeo guide us around Kyoto made our trip stress-free so we can actually enjoy the sights and the beautiful culture of Japan.
