Visit historical places which related to Hidden Christian's martyrdom in old Omura domain area. Most of the places relates to KORI-KUZURE martyrdom(in 1658) which was the biggest martyrdom in Omura. 99 life in jail, 78 died in jail, 411 excuted out of 608 captured Christians in Omura.

(Standard) OMURA History museum(20min):

Part of exhibitions display the history of Christianity in Omura area. Explain about the history of Christianity in Omura.

(Optional) SANJO castle site(3min):

OMURA domein's main castle from 1564 to 1599. OMURA SUMITADA mainly used. Later on change the castle to KUSHIMA castle.

(Standard) TENSHO Youth Delegation monument of honnor (5min):

A monument of the first Japanese Christian delegation dispatched to European Cathoric countries in 1582.

(Optional) Ending place of OMURA SUMITADA (the first Christian DAIMYO[Japanese feudal lord]) (3min):

1st Christian Daimyo of Japan close his life this place in 1587.

(Standard)SONOGI port, 26 Martyrs boarding port to Nagasaki (15min):

Visit a monument of 26 Martyrs boarding from this port to across OMURA bay to TOGITSU port, NAGASAKI in 1597.

(Optional) KUSHIMA castle(10min):

OMURA domain's main castle used from 1599 to 1871. Built by OMURA YOSHIAKI (Son of SUMITADA).

(Standard) HONKYO-JI temple(5min):

Omura Daimyo family's Buddhist temple that was built after abandon of Christianity in 1605.

(Standard) IMADOMI Christian tomb stone(5min):

Built in 1614, Cathoric style tomb stone, miraculously escaped from destraction.

(Standard) OBITORI Martyrdom site (5min):

2 foreign priests were excuted at this place in 1617, 1st Cathoric martyrdom in Omura domain.

(Standard) SUZUTA jail (5min):

35 arrested Cathoric priests and believers were confined during 1617-1622 until their excution.

(Standard) HOKOBARU Martyrdom square (10min):

A place of Cathoric martyrdom, 131 local Cathoric believers were martyred here in 1658 as the part of KORI-KUZURE.

(Standard) SAISHI-WAKARE no ishi (Tear stones) (5min):

131 local Cathoric were separated with families there on martyrdom day in 1658.

(Standard) KUBI-ZUKA (5min):

131 Cathoric martyrs beheaded heads were buried this place in 1658.

(Standard) DOU-ZUKA (5min):

131 Cathoric martyrs beheaded bodies were buried this place in 1658.

(Standard) GOKUMON-JO site (5min):

131 Cathoric beheaded heads were displayed this place for 20 days in 1658.

Tour Important Information

The tour price includes only guiding fee and Meet-up fee.

You will pay the excluding fees such as Rental car or Taxi related fees, Parking and toll-road (if used).

I can managed to shorten or extend the tour time 4(minimum) to 6 hours by your request.

We use a Rental car or taxi for transportation; and you pay all the cost. It costs different depends on the type of the car. I inform you estimated rental car cost in the proposal tour plan before your booking.

Museum will be closed on designated day.

Important message from the guide

My coverage areas are mainly poor public transportation areas, so mostly use my private car (5 pax) or a suitable size rental car (6 to 7 pax) to move. We use a Jumbo taxi for 8 pax group. It is easy to travel and free to move.

My coverage areas are Nagasaki, Saga, and Fukuoka prefectures. But I live near Omura city in Nagasaki prefecture, so depending on where I meet you (meet-up), I will request you to pay the Meet-up fee (transportation cost back and forth to the meeting spot) in cash on site. The meet-up fee will be different based on the transportation fee from where I stay. Before the tour date, I will inform you how much the meet-up fee in the original tour plan.

Here are the basic meet-up fees for each area, Ohmura city is 2,000 JPY, Sasebo city is 3,500JPY, Isahaya city is 3,500 JPY, Nagasaki city is 4,000JPY, Saga is 8,000JPY, and Fukuoka is 15,000JPY. I will try to choose the cheapest way to travel. If you don't care high meet-up fee, I go anywhere as far as I can.

I work in both Nagasaki and Okinawa, working in 2 places for about half and half days a month. I have lived in Okinawa for over 12 years and am qualified and registered as an Okinawa Prefectural interpreter tour guide.

On my schedule calendar, available days mean that I stay in Nagasaki; on the contrary, unavailable days mean I am in Okinawa(mostly), so I might be able to guide you in Okinawa. I have another GWG account in Okinawa also, please visit it, too.

“Nagasaki - Rich in history”

Hero was a very good tour guide as he provided an in-depth view of the history of Nagasaki and what the city has endured through history. “Excellent Nagasaki Tour”

We were arriving into Nagasaki by ship and in order to get a better understanding of Nagasaki and its history we spent a most informative few hours with Hero rather than take the traditional organized tours. His knowledge of the entire area was excellent and his English was very good. He communicated with us prior to the tour and picked up us as scheduled in his car. After a few hours of exploring various areas of interest and facets of Nagasaki lifestyle we stopped in a great little park for a simple but tasty morning tea which he personally provided. After taking us to some more interesting areas of Nagasaki he then enquired as to our tastes for lunch and found us a very tidy restaurant that was simple food exactly to our tastes. After lunch we explored a large retail area where he showed us the type of lifestyle frequented by many of the Nagasaki population. With the weather closing in it was time to call it day and return to the ship. We can say that Hero gave us such a great insight into the city of Nagasaki and its residents. He really made our visit highly memorable.
