Mayumi was absolutely wonderful from the beginning. She ensured our ability to meet her at the training facility, since we drove instead of taking the train. She was outside in the cold, waiting for us and made certain we had a place to park. Upon arrival, we were able to change into our Kendo gear for our lesson. She had her daughter with her and they proceeded to teach us the basics of Kendo and let us know why we were doing things rather than just how. It was great having her daughter there, so she could demonstrate on her while we both watched. Mayumi ensured we developed a basic level of competency, so we could actually do the exercises. In the end my friend and I got to put on the armor and actually spar each other as though we were fighting in a tournament. Before we left Mayumi ensured we had the opportunity to meet the senior Kendo instructor, who made us feel extremely welcome in his school. Both my friend and I are looking forward to returning for more lessons.
Hello Lorelei, Thank you so much for your review. We are so happy to hear that you enjoyed the session. It might be a little complicated for people who do Kendo for the first time, but no problem for you! You and your friend figured out properly what I explained to you about not only the technical things but its spirit, which made things smooth, so we could proceed to next steps quickly. If you continue to practice it regularly, you could develop both physical and mental aspects. I can help you anytime. Mayumi
