Legend has it that after eating dates brought back from the Sahara, the soldiers of the 11th century Almoravids Sultan Youssef benTashafine spat out the stones around their encampment. The stones are supposed to have germinated and led to the creation of La Palmeraie ( Palm Gloves) in Marrakech, visitors can also experience trills of Berber adventure during an hour camel riding in the wide open skies and attractive palm groves.
The wonderful Garden is like a small paradise in the heart of Ville Nouvelle(the new town), it was created by Jacques Majorelle in 1923. The garden was later bought by Yves Saint Laurent, the famous French couturier. Beside Yucca, bouganvillea, bamboo, laureal, geranium, hibiscus and cypresses, the garden has over 400 variaties of palm tree and 1800 species of cactus. Water lilies grow in a pool bordered by papyrus. The studio has been converted into a small museum that countains a selection of Moroccan crafts such as antique rugs and Berber old doors.
A haven of coolness and shade, the imperial garden covers almost 90ha and is filled mostly with olive and fruit trees. In the 12th century, an enormous pool was dug ijn the center of the garden. In the 19 century, Moulay Abdurahman built the pavillion with green total pyramidal roof.

The souks of Marrakech are among the most fascinating ones in the Maghreb (North Africa). Arranged according to the individual nature of the goods on offer, they are laid out in the narrow streets north and east of the Square Jamaa Elfna. Today a very wide range of goods, from fabric to Jewelry , rugs, leather-work and slippers is on offer. Because of the rank odors, the tanners are banished to the edge of the city. Around the commercial hubs are crafts such as black-smiting, saddle making, wool and silk dying, wood carving and basketting.
It is a constant miracle that the dyers can produce such vibrant colours from their cramped and blackened workshops .You take pictures and you listen to explaination of the dying technique with natural colours and if you are interested you can purchase scarves. The dyers souk has become all the more important as an example of a tradtional craft since the one in Fez is now defunct. (approx. 45min-1h)
A covered alley dominated by stalls seiling thuya wood carvings. Thuya is a very dense hardwood, it is polished inlaid decorative motifs in citron wood, mother-of-pearl or ebony and sometimes with threads of silver or copper, or slivers of camel bone. It is used to make such items as coffee tables, caskets, small statues, boxes in all shapes and sizes, trays and jewellery. (approx. 45min-1hour)
The stitching of slippers. We visit the workshop where the craftsmen are making shoes of different styles and sizes. If you feel tempted, there you can find the real ones (In the souks there are plenty of shops selling fake ones). (approx. 45mins-1hour)
Souks are full of shops of junky and cheap jewlry. If you like to see the real and authentic ones ask your guide who knows: where you can find that. After we go out from the souks to enjoy the square Jamaa El-Fna.

“Marrakech medina tour”
Abdellatif was an awesome guide. He was kind and very knowledgeable with his knowledge and experience coming from one who grew up in the medina. If you're looking for a guide who will help you to learn about the history and culture of the medina and to explore beyond what tourists typically experience then I highly recommend Abdellatif as a guide.

“Couldn't have been happier”
Abdellatif arrived early to Riad Karmela and patiently waited as we finished breakfast and got ready. We then spent the day walking 4.1 miles around Marrakesh and seeing the main themes/sites. He was kind enough to walk us back to the Riad as imo, it is a confusing place to walk around. He spoke with clarity, spent the correct amount of time at each site and was patient while the kids asked questions. I have no hesitation recommending him to you.

“Jill Biden's tour guide ”
Spent a wonderful day with Abdellatif as our tour guide in Marrakech. Abdellatif was very knowledgeable about the city's rich history and culture. It felt like traveling back in time when he explained the story behind each of Marakech's amazing monuments. Abdellatif insisted to take us to Ben Youssef school (not a typical Marrakech itinerary) and I'm so thankful he did, as it turned out to be an art piece (probably my favorite archeological site in Morocco). It is there, BTW that's where I saw a picture of Abdellatif alongside Jill Biden hung at the entrance. Abdellatif was also very attentive to our needs as a family with 3 children. He also gave great recommendations for restaurants and shops. He took us to various shops, we saved their locations, and came back the very next day. Highly recommended.
