We have engaged Seiko san for 2 days tour to Osaka and Kyoto. We have had an enjoyable trip where Seiko san was a fantastic guide. She is so knowledgeable and cater to our needs and requirement. She knows all the in and out of Osaka and Kyoto and meetings all our needs in food, tour requirement and timing. One word to summarise - Outstanding!
We love how attentive and accommodating Seiko is. My children adore her for being funny and friendly. Also, she knows her way around. Worth your every penny. We will definitely book her again.
Seiko is an excellent knowledgeable guide with great English skills and attentive, intuitive sense of what we were interested in and spent more time guiding and explaining the historical and cultural significance of them. We had an optional day planned for Nara but learned from her about the islands in the Seto Inland Sea. She noted that we enjoyed the arts and suggested it as another option. A bonus from a professional that really knows the country!
My sister, niece and I spent three amazing days with Seiko. We had so much fun, we wanted to have more days! She is so full of knowledge about Japanese culture, food, history, and art. She navigated us swiftly and effortless around Kyoto, Nara, and Osaka, and showed us many hidden jewels we would have missed if we had been on our own. She is also super sweet, a great conversationalist, and a lot of fun. After Day 1, she already felt like a old family friend. We hope to see her again!!
Thanks Chris, you guys were amazing! I had such a great time in the 3-day tour especially showing different kinds of sake and some of my favorite dishes to the gourmet family:) 3 days were not enough for me to accommodate your kind of people, so please come back and let me show you more! Thanks again! Seiko
Seiko guided us right from the train platform throughout the day to all of major sights of Kyoto. She is incredibly knowledgeable about all the history, culture, and little details of the city. Plus, she provides the personable touch to ensure you enjoy every moment that you will not get from a big tour company! We are so very greatful to her for an amazing day in Kyoto!
Thanks Stephen! I'm so glad to hear you enjoyed my tour as you came all the way from Tokyo:) Thank YOU for being so friendly and open that I felt like I was just taking my friends around Kyoto. Sorry about the rush but I hope the tour deserved the travel time and you had a great time in Tokyo and other areas of Japan. Thanks and see you again! Seiko
Seriously! Seiko was an absolutely awesome tour guide. She was incredibly prepared and had picture and history printouts about each of the places we visited. She was incredibly patient and gracious with us and even happily went over our allotted time in order to get us on the train back to our hotel. Our visit with Koyoto would definitely not have been the same without Seiko
Thanks Juan! (& sorry for my late response) Although it was a short tour in the rain, we could visit many places and I was happy to see you were enjoying walking around Kyoto and trying local food & drinks! I hope you had a great time visiting other areas of Japan as well. Thanks again! Seiko
We took a one day Osaka city tour with Seiko. Our group consisted of 7 people from 3 generations-rather big and diverse group. My husband and I were worried if the grandparents who are in their early 80’s would be able to keep up with the tour. We were also worried if the kids will follow with the tour without getting bored or tired too soon. As we feared, the grandparents had to take a long break in the middle of our first destination, and then even longer break for lunch. But Seiko accommodated to the grandparents’ needs with so much care and kindness that we felt like she was our real aunt! The grandparents eventually returned to the hotel after lunch, and the tour continued with the remaining 5 people. Since we took such long breaks, we were behind the schedule by a lot, but Seiko gu... read more
Thanks Taeok-san! (sorry for my late reply!) I remember you all took care of your parents well and it was really nice to see the 3 generations having a good time together. I was so lucky to be part of your family and cannot thank enough that this tour gave me a chance to meet you and create such a friendship with you!! Thanks again and please don't forget to contact me when you come to Japan next time! Seiko
Seiko is a very good guide. She brought us around the shrines, temple, bamboo grove and sake tasting. She explained the historical of the temples n shrine and Japanese culture. She speak very good english. She even don’t mind to bring us around for more sake even though she is supposed to call it a day. Will definitely engage her if we are going back to Osaka again.
Thanks Evonne!!! (sorry my reply was late...) Yes, when you want to drink more sake, nobody can't stop us!!! hahaha! It was such a fun day with you guys for me and would be more than happy to take you guys to even moore deeper area when you come back! Thanks again! Seiko
I booked an 8 hour tour with Seiko to see the sights of Kyoto with my three teenagers. As I was unsure how such a long day would unfold with the kids, I asked if we could be flexible and she was fantastic. She did her best to accommodate our wishes and was so friendly, helpful and knowledgable. She took us to the Fushimi Inari shrine, the bamboo forest, Nishiki market, a department store food hall, Gion and the Kennin-ji temple. We also had great tonkatsu for lunch in central Kyoto. I would highly recommend her to anyone keen to see all the main sights of such a fantastic city.
Thanks Karen! It could have been more challenging to travel in Japan with 3 teenagers, but I'm sure you enjoyed the days as your children were so engaged in the tour and interested in lots of cultural aspects and Japanese food, even learning many Japanese words in a week! I especially enjoyed Fushimi Inari hike with you all. Such a fun day for me too! Thanks so much and hope you can come back with your husband some time soon. Seiko
I traveled with my family of 5 members to Kyoto this summer. Seiko was very accommodating to prepare a schedule to fit our interests. We covered every place we wanted to visit and Seiko always showed great knowledge of the history of every location. But the most spectacular thing was that Seiko took us to many particular spots outside the main paths that made a great difference to our day, including a fantastic restaurant to enjoy local food at a spectacular location. We had great fun with her throughout the day. Many many thanks to Seiko for making our visit to Kyoto so special. We highly recommend her for families or groups visiting the area.
Thank you Eduardo! I'm glad to hear you enjoyed my way of walking this beautiful city of Kyoto! Sometimes it's very difficult to avoid the crowds at busy time but I try to show you the area from different angles and not to walk the same way back so you can see more with limited time. Hope your wife (my sister!?) and the boys (so cool & sweeeeet!) also had a great time in Japan! Thanks again for coming all the way to our country:) Seiko
We did a deep dive into three hot spots in Kyoto and also had a marvelous 'local' lunch with Seiko. She was knowledgeable, friendly, cool, thoughtful ... we not only learned a lot, but we also truly enjoyed her company as she is quite an interesting an accomplished person. I would definitely do another tour with Seiko. It really made our stay in Kyoto special and set us up for touring solo. She also went out of her way to explain the subway/ transit system and she even offered us many ideas for itineraries on the upcoming days. Thank you Seiko! #BestTourGuideInKyoto.
Thank you Carolina, I had a wonderful time with you and your family too! Your friendliness and smile made me feel so comfortable to guide a big family with small kid right away, and I really enjoyed being your companion as if I was your fiend in Japan:) The twins were amazing and patient too, great job! I hope you guys had a good time in Nishiki and other sites in Kyoto thereafter. Thanks again!! Seiko
Seiko was a terrific tour guide! Kyoto is a much bigger city than we realized, and it would have been impossible to visit all of the famous sites without her knowing the best way to get from one place to another. She is very knowledgeable about each location we visited, and made sure that we saw as much as we could in a day. We especially enjoyed our conversations on the train ride to and from Osaka learning fun facts about Osaka food and baseball team. Thank you Seiko for a wonderful day!
Arigato Shizuka-san for a very nice review. Rain part was a bit unfortunate in the morning but your group with teenagers were all so patient and did the best to see as much as possible in the limited time. Had a fun time!!! Next time, let me take you guys to Hanshin Tiger's game (No more Giants!) and celebrate a victory in Dotonbori with Osakan soul foods!! Can't wait!!! Thanks again!! Seiko
We had such a wonderful experience with Seiko. She created a custom itinerary for our interests and was extremely knowledgeable. Her fun and energetic personality made 8 hours fly by. Look no further...if you need a guide, book Seiko!
Thanks Razming!! Yes, we did a lot of walking (almost non-stop for 8 hours) but it went fast and well because it was with you guys! Thanks for sharing your life stories too. It's the best part of my job to get to know such a cool people like you guys and learn about different cultures/foods/lifestyles from them. Hope you'll come back to Japan someday!! Thanks again! Seiko
Our family had 2 days of private tours with Seiko, and we are so glad that she was our guide! Seiko was very sweet, fun, spunky, energetic, and so conscientious of how we were feeling throughout the day. We felt like we were traveling around with a friend rather than a hired guide! She took us to the best sights, and timed it so that we could avoid crowds as much as possible. We thoroughly enjoyed our time with her, and Kyoto and Osaka wouldn’t not have been half as fun without Seiko taking us. Thanks again Seiko!!
Thanks for the fun two days, Debbie & the family! I'm glad to hear you enjoyed Osaka & Kyoto. It is sometimes a bit challenging to have two teenagers after many days in Japan but they kept asking me questions, showing their interests and seeking for understanding Japanese culture, just as you and Michael. That was wonderful! Good luck with Ian for the music, and hope Lily had a great K-pop time in Korea:) Thanks again and please contact me if any of you ever come back to Japan!! Seiko
I travel a lot for work in Europe and South America and often I'm assigned a Tour Guide during free time. Those tours are often scripted. Seiko can be that Guide if you want, but she is also very flexible to go where you want even if it is last minute suggestion. She is very smart on history, international geography, food and especially Sake. I'm in the wine business and it was refreshing to learn a ton on Sake from Seiko. She knew my sake taste profile pretty quickly. I felt like I was hanging out with an old friend with Seiko with conversations about Family and Pets rather than a guide. Thank You Seiko! Craig
Thank YOU Craig! I really enjoyed the time with you - talking a lot about various topics from whisky to baseball, walking everywhere to see not just temples and shrines but also everyday life and scene of the people and city, and drinking different kinds of sake together! Yes, I was probably not doing my job but more like enjoying my time with my friend :) Thanks again for the special day! Seiko
Seiko planned a great day. Covered a variety of experiences. From a sake brewery, shrines, temples, tea ceremony to experiencing the Gion Festival. The Gion Festival was very special and gave us the opportunity to see many Geishas in all their beauty. Seiko was very knowledgeable and flexible on the itinerary. A wonderful day in a beautiful city.
Thanks Michael and Anne for a special day and letting me plan a tour with you. Yes, we did and visited a lot and I'm relieved to hear you enjoyed the day even after two weeks of traveling and seeing a lot in Japan. The festival is a small one but so special that we could be so close to Geikos/Maikos with their friendly and beautiful smiles. Please enjoy the rest of your time in Japan! Seiko
My wife and I just spent two days with Seiko exploring Osaka, the Himeji Castle and Kobe. She picked us up and delivered us back to our hotel. She showed us how to use the subways and trains in Osaka and took us to interesting sites. She also took us to restaurants serving local food. Her English is outstanding. We had a great time with Seiko and would highly recommend her for anyone looking for a local guide in the Osaka area.
Thank you Chris and Helen for the wonderful two days. I sometimes find it a bit challenging to entertain someone who travels a lot and already seen many parts of Japan, but I ended up being entertained by many good questions from you all the time (thanks to your understanding about history etc)!!! Thanks for many drinks and meals with you too. Safe travels back to the States:) Seiko
We were a group of 8 people from USA. Seiko Met us at the train station at a cafe holding a sign and was easy to find. Seiko spoke English beautifully and took us on a food tour which highlighted the New World and Dotonbori areas. She is very knowledgeable about history and a pleasure to tour with. We would highly recommend her!
Thanks Marian for all the communications and arrangements before the tour. It went well thanks to you! I hope everyone enjoyed a day in Osaka and the rest of their time in other cities in Japan. Seiko
Seiko is a wonderful tour guide. Her English is fluent and easy to understand. She accommodated our particular shopping and dining requests, and even let us use her wi-fi. She explained the history well. Highly recommend.
Thanks Wayea! I had a great time guiding and chatting with you and the family. Was very interesting! Sometimes it's not easy to meet everyone's request if it is a big group or different generations but I see you guys travel really well together by caring for each other. Thanks again! Seiko
Don’t hesitate to book Seiko as your guide! We had a fantastic day with a knowledgeable, friendly and interesting guide who spoke fluent English. I will be highly recommending her to all my friends travelling to japan.
Thank you Angela! Fushimi Inari walk to the viewpoint, Uji with maccha, sake lunch was the perfect combination of a day in Kyoto for someone like you guys! Thanks for sharing your stories with me during the tour as well. I always feel so lucky to be able to meet such interesting and cool people as a part of my job:) Arigato for the fun day to all of you!!! Seiko
What a wonderful day exploring Kyoto with Seiko as our guide. She couldn’t do enough to ensure we had a great time, explaining the history and culture of the city whilst managing to keep our two young daughters engaged and interested. The highlights were definitely the river cruise along the hozu, the bamboo forest and the tour of the Gion district where we spotted a trainee Geisha. Seiko guides us expertly from area to the next and found a lovely restaurant with river views for lunch. We would certainly recommend her for any visitors requiring a guide with great English language and natural ability to communicate at all levels with all ages.
Thanks Rob for the kind review! Hodugawa kudari is one of my favorite things to do in Kyoto in every season. I always recommend this to my friends visiting Kyoto and was so happy when you said you wanted to do this! It was also nice to spot a maiko (and geiko later!) for the girls too as I remember they sounded very interested as I guided the area. Hope they can come back to Japan some time again and use the Japanese words they learnt here. Thanks again! Seiko
Seiko was definitely the best. She gave suggestion for us to arrive early as we were coming from Tokyo so that we could enjoy all the activities. She greeted us at the station and guided us through a full day of tour. She was so efficient and knowledgeable that we couldn’t have visited as many places without her. She picked great places for dinner and guided us back to the Shinkansen. Many thanks Seiko. We are very grateful to you.
Thank you Phiet! It was a great day for me having fun with you guys just like showing my friends around. Thanks for getting up so early (4:30am!?) and letting me choose the dinner places, as well! I hope you enjoyed an authentic part of Japan and Japanese food here in Kyoto:) Seiko
Seiko was the highlight of our Japan holiday. We were 4 Australians in our late 40s cruising around Japan and had never used a private guide before. We decided to give in a go as an alternative to a cruise booked tour. So pleased we did. She met us at the cruise terminal and help us change our JR Voucher into tickets. We then spent 8 hours touring Osaka & Kobe. Including the Castle, Shinsekai, Nipponbashi (subculture street) and Kuromon Ichiba Market. We walked, used subway and trains. She took us into restaurants we would never of entered on our own, introduced us to street food, she explained the culture and history in easy simple language that explained so much from our previous days in Tokyo and set us up for the rest of our time in Japan. Seiko even helped us plan our next day to ... read more
Thank you, Jacinta! Yes, we walked a lot and I really like to do that because you can see more of our real life and scenes as you walk. You were all so fit and interested in checking things out that I wished we'd had more time to show you more! I'd be so happy if my tour helped you all experience and understand our country and culture a bit more. It was also easy and fun for me to spend a day with you as chatting about lots of things. I hope you also had a great time in Hiroshima. Thanks again to all of you!!! Seiko
I was going to visit Kyoto for the first time with my family and my sister's family. We had a party of 8 persons. I contacted Seiko a week before my arrival and requested for a day tour of Kyoto and also some specific spots which I wanted to visit. Seiko responded quickly with an itinerary. She made some good suggestions which I didn't think of. During the tour, Seiko gave us many good snippets of information about the history and significance of the places we visited. We were particularly happy to visit the Fushimi Sake District to experience the sake culture and taste the local sake. We would not be able to see so many places in a day without her capable guidance. I would strongly recommend her services to those who intend to tour the Kyoto area.
What a wonderful day with you too!!!! Thanks to you taking my advice and all of you being so patient with lots of walking, it was full of special things packed in one day. In the end it turned to be a long day visiting different places for 8 of you with different interests and ages, I was very grateful that nobody complained but took care of each other, so that the tour went so smoothly. I myself enjoyed the tour as much as (or maybe more than) you did. Lucky me! I was also happy to see you guys were enjoying sake & whisy Lol (& thanks for my sake too!) Thanks again and hope to see you again when you come back (PLEASE!) Seiko
We contacted Seiko the day before our tour, with our request of guiding our family of six through multiple destinations in Kyoto. She responded quickly and was quite flexible with our all of our different requests. Most importantly, she added an element of practicality in terms of which destinations would combine most conveniently so that we could enjoy them to their fullest. We visited the Kinkaku-hi golden temple and Kitano Tenmangu shrine to see the amazing Fall colors. The highlight was our Riverboat tour down the Hozu- Gawa river where the charismatic guides used a single paddle and a bamboo pole to guide us down 10 miles of river while pointing out rocks which looked like Snoopy, a seal and a lion, as well as historical sites , all the while providing an fun element of comedy. Thank you for choosing me and your kind comments on the review, Nancy. I also very much appreciated that you took all my advice of alternatives/recommendations for fall colors and am so glad to hear you all liked the places we visited! Kitano Tenmangu is particularly a special place for me as I spent my college days living behind the temple, so is Hozugawa kudari where I did many training runs for rafting races (so I always knew how beautiful and fun the river boat ride is in every season:). You were also lucky in terms of timing for fall colors and we could spot a real Geiko-san by the beautiful bridge. It was definitely my lucky and special day as well especially with a wonderful family of yours! Thank you and your family again and hope you had a great time in other cities (and onsen... read more
Seiko meaning Holy Child. She’s cheerful, active, resourceful and very knowledgeable of Japan’s hidden gems. If you’re looking for the best experience in Japan then look no further than with Seiko. Seiko will help you find the beautiful unknown parts of Japan! If you want a tour that doesn’t have a lot of other tourists around then Seiko is the right tour guide for you. We had given her a list of activities that we wanted to do prior to our visit but she also made her own suggestions which we agreed on, her suggestions became the highlights of our trip. The next time we visit I think we’ll just let her decide because we really loved the places she took us to. We would not have known about those spots and restaurants if not for her. Two of my friends had already asked me for her conta... read more
Thank you so much for your thoughtful and rewarding review, JV. I was very moved by reading your kind comments and appreciate your time in writing this up despite your busy schedule. As we carefully planned an itinerary for your family of three generations together, I was ready for a bit challenging experience for me, but it turned out to be great experience and easy-going tour, and I had a wonderful time with you. Thanks for connecting me with your family (very interesting!), and I was so happy to see you liked the places I picked! Hope to see you again in the Philippines or Japan, someday soon! Seiko P.S. We actually made it to the restaurant I originally booked, as they said it was okay to be a bit late.... Glad you liked it too^^
Seiko was a last minute replacement guide but was superb - very knowledgable, caring and spoke fluent English We had a wonderful day in Kyoto with her and enjoyed the sights of the Old Capitol + the market & Geisha area. We would not have seen as much without her - thank you Seiko
Thank you Bernie & Rosemary! It was a nice surprise to have a chance to guide you in Kyoto. I'm glad to hear you had a wonderful day, and certainly the long train ride was worthwhile! Pizza lunch was another surprise but shifted us into high gear thanks to a glass of wine! Thanks again and hope you continue a memorable journey. Seiko
What a great way to start a holiday in Kyoto! Seiko showed us some beautiful sights and gave us so much information about their history and cultural significance. After planning our initial tour with her, she was very responsive to our late requests for changes which demonstrated her understanding of our needs. After visiting Tokyo for a week we were trying to get away from the crowds and Seiko suggested a visit to Uji, including a tea ceremony, followed by an early evening visit to the Fushimi Inari shrine which allowed us to experience these wonderful places calmly. She is very friendly, easy to talk to and has excellent English skills. Thanks so much from Phil and Linda.
Thank you Phili and Linda!! I'm glad you liked Uji for a change as it's also one of my favorite areas in Kyoto. I hope it helped you get to know Kyoto on your first day, and you could explore the city and surrounding area at your pace on the following days in Kyoto. I also enjoyed hearing about Australia and your travel experience, and love the picture with Linda by Uji bridge in the sunset! Thanks again for the memorable day:) Seiko
Seiko was especially friendly and heartwarming and we enjoyed spending time with her in Kyoto. She explained everything we asked her and was very knowledgeable about Japan’s history, culture and customs. We can definitely recommend her as an excellent guide.
Thank you Damir!! I just laughed so much that day!! Such a fun day with you all so that I almost forgot I was on duty.... hahaha! Sorry about all the food traps too. Hope you didn't miss the ship's departure and had more fun days at each port of call. Please send my regards to Elena, Kevin and June as well! Seiko
Seiko is an excellent tour guide who showed us the amazing sights in Kyoto. She carefully planned out our day taking into consideration our needs and requests. We enjoyed a fantastic mini-kaiseki lunch in the most beautiful part of Kyoto. Seiko speaks excellent English and is extremely knowledgeable. We will be recommending her to our friends and family.
Thank you for the amazing day too, Elise! I'm so honored to have been part of your birthday celebration! I really appreciated that you always asked me how to be polite and proper in Japanese customs and tried anything offered in the truly authentic Japanese lunch, which might have been sometimes challenging... :) On top of that, you guys liked walking everywhere!! Hope you, your sister and Vivi chan enjoyed the day and the whole experience in Japan! Seiko
From start to finish Seiko was terrific to work with. Several emails back and forth and a custom tour of the beautiful city of Nara with Seiko was created. She picked us up from our cruise ship port. We began by her teaching us how to use the train system, from buying tickets to learning the lines and where to go. We then took several trains to Nara from Kobe. Once we arrived she took us all around the shrine and temple of Nara. It was truly beautiful. The free roaming sacred deer was our reason for going to Nara but the 1,000’s of lanterns and amazing shrine and beautiful temple and it’s history we learned was the ultimate reason for this destination. Seiko was full of information and was able to be flexible with our shopping and eating demands. Afterward we went to Osaka and she even to... read more
Thank you Kimberly for the very personal and kind comments. I'm glad we could still visit all the sites as planned despite the change of arrival time due to the typhoon and I could spend a wonderful time with you all. Even chatting while traveling was something, now that you made me want to travel by a cruise ship! Hope you enjoyed exploring all other cities you visited in Japan and come back for more someday! Seiko
This was our first trip to Japan and we chose Seiko to introduce us to Kyoto in our very first day. She was the PERFECT tour guide: calm, flexible, thorough, knowledgeable, and fun. We visited some of the main attractions in one day and she even taught us how to use the public transportation by ourselves. Overall, an extremely good experience.
Thank you for your kind comment, Marcio. I had a PERFECT day with you all!! Thank you for asking me lots of interesting questions as well. I enjoyed not just showing the sites, our culture and food etc. but also hearing about your connections to Japan and Japanese culture before you actually visited here. I wish I could have taught your sons more Japanese words, but hope at least "Sumimasen" was useful :) Thanks again!!!! Seiko
Seiko was wonderful! She worked to adjust our itinerary at the last minute due to the excessive heat/humidity in Kyoto/Uji. We walked through Uji (learned how to make matcha), visited Byodo-In Temple and Fushimi-Inari in Kyoto. She made the most of our time with how efficient she planned everything. If you enjoy hearing interesting facts about the various places you visit I would highly recommend Seiko! You will not be disappointed!
Thank you Gary for the positive and thoughtful review. One of the things I care most for planning a tour is efficiency to maximize the limited time together, so I am very glad to hear your comment about it! I hope you had a great time despite the heat in Kyoto (& glad you barely missed the typhoon!) and are now enjoying the maccha from Uji at home! Seiko
Seiko was a fantastic guide, she showed us a great selection of sites to give us a good feel for Kyoto. My husband and I and our kids (11 and 13) learned a lot and she’s really nice. We all enjoyed the tour!
Thanks for the fun and easy-going tour! Your family were so lively and approachable from the moment we met, and chatting with your kids who are cheerful and curious was a bonus! Hope your son got better soon, and you could see and enjoy more for the rest of your days in Kyoto. Seiko
The best guide I’ve ever had!!!! Seiko made me feel like a sister that I left here in Japan☺️. She arranged our itinerary base on our interest as we were haft way trough our day. She is very knowledgeable about where to go and the rich history of each places. She took us to a very nice local lunch witch we would never find on our own or on TripAdvisor. She not only took us to popular places, but also the places that only local know. She is so flexible with her time, her 8hrs doesn’t just ended at the exact time, she made sure we have a good time till the end. If you want to experience Kyoto with a high energy, loving and feel like one of the local Seiko is A MUST!!! Thank again Seiko for keeping with our pace ☺️. It should be the other way around. Delly
Thank you Delly for the wonderful time! You help me break the record with my pedometer!! I was lucky to be picked by you guys, so fit and fun to walk with, and absolutely enjoyed walking from the corner to corner in Uji and even to the top of Fushimi Inari! You could see a lot more of our real and everyday life in Japan. I was sad to say good-bye in the bus after such a great time of walking, cycling, and chatting with you all about everything especially about anime and football with your son:). Hope you'll come back to Japan to see more some day, maybe in a different season. Thanks again!! Seiko
We had a fabulous day in Osaka with Seiko. We met her at Kobe port and she expertly navigated us through the trains to Osaka. We saw the highlights by foot and boat as Seiko gave us the history of the city. We had lunch at a local sushi restaurant which was wonderful (it was tiny but worth the wait). Our two college aged children had a great time as Seiko was so easy to get along with and made our day fun. This was far better than taking the tours offered by our cruise ship.
Thank you Karen and everyone! I'm very relieved to hear that you had a good time despite the hustle and bustle for the boat and train ride at the end....: ) I think we covered a lot within the limited time which cannot be done with the cruise ship tour, thanks to you all giving a clear picture of what you want to see/eat/buy before and during the tour. Please cheer for Hanshin Tigers from the States and say hi to the people at the United Noodles for me!! Seiko
A great day out with Seiko in Nara and Osaka! Knowledgeable and friendly guide.
Thanks Martin! I am very happy to hear you had a great day as we walked a lot on a hot and humid day. Hope you arrived home safely and will come back to Japan again someday for more exploration. Seiko
My girlfriend and I did a 6 hour tour with Seiko in Kyoto. It was, without exaggeration, the best decision we made by far. She is incredibly knowledgeable and professional, and her English is near native speaker level. But what really impressed us was her ability to connect with us and the positive energy she brought to the time we spent together. By the second hour, it felt more like a good friend was showing us around her home town than a paid guide doing her job. We talked about all kinds of things, beyond just the factoids expected from a tour. I think we had the most fun chatting about her experiences living in the US, and the cultural idiosyncrasies of Japanese people. And when we said goodbye, we felt sad that she couldn’t come with us to Tokyo. After she got to know us, she also ga... read more
Thank you so much for your detailed and super special review! It touched my heart... It's actually amazing to know I felt exactly the same way - I was just having a great time with my friends and really sad to say good-bye at the end! I understand our biggest rivals are Google Maps, Google Translator, and TripAdvisor, and it's always challenging to go beyond them. But I always try to know about my clients as we plan/do a tour together, and would like to enjoy the day not just as a guide but also as a local friend who wants to be part of your great memories in Japan (that cannot be given by Mr. Google or Ms.TA:-) Hope you also had a great time in Tokyo and see you again in Japan! Seiko
Seiko is a wonderful guide and person. Planning the tour was effortless. This is our third trip to Kyoto, but we are traveling with my brother in law and his wife, and it is their first time, so we visited some places we've been before. Seiko was able to provide information and insights that made it all seem new again. Even getting from place to place was better, easier with Seiko. She took us down smaller streets, and pointed out the details we would have missed without her. We requested a specific type of lunch so she took us to a small restaurant that specializes in exactly what we wanted, we never could have found that perfect of restaurant without her. In fact if we did find it we could not have ordered without her. She learned what each of us likes and made an effort to make sure ... read more
Thank you Lee for your kind comments. Having two-day tour with you was not just fun but also a great learning opportunity for me as some of your questions were new to me, and I really enjoyed talking with you guys on the train etc. about various things including Wanda's family history. Your interest in our culture, food, people etc. made me want to have more time with you so please contact me when you come back to this area again!!! Thanks for the Wisconsin mug as well. This will always remind me of you and the time with you:) Seiko
Seiko took care of us for 2 days(Kyoto & Kobe tour) and she made sure everything was well-planned. She was willing to answer to every question my children asked her and was kind, cheery, and helpful in every way. Couldn’t ask for more... Thank you so much for everything Seiko!
Thank you Brandon and everyone!!! I had such a great time with you all for the whole time; especially the herb garden was so much fun with the kids:) I soon started to enjoy being part of you guys, instead of just being a guide, and very sad when I had to say good-bye at the end. Encounter at the Cup Noodle Museum was a big bonus!!! Thanks again & miss you all!!! Seiko
Seiko led us through Osaka on our last day in Japan, taking us through areas of the city we would never have discovered on our own. She was a wealth of knowledge (I wish we'd booked Seiko for our first day - our entire Japan experience would have been more detailed and nuanced), friendly and funny. She was happy to alter the tour on the move as our small group made snap decisions about what we wanted to see. She took us to an awesome hole-in-the-wall for lunch (the kind of place that looked too 'different' from the outside for us to have been brave enough to check out by ourselves, but which was, of course, convivial, genuine and delicious.) I am very happy to hear you seemed to have enjoyed the day as a tourist after being a tour guide/navigator and taking care of everyone for many days! I also enjoyed talking with your family (3 generations!) and hearing about the whole trip in Japan. You did a great job :) I feel so lucky this is my job when I finish my tour with people like you guys... Thanks again! Seiko
Seiko was charming and chatty, our time went too quickly. We gained deeper insights into Japanese culture, religion and daily life exploring Kyoto's famed sites with Seiko. She made these sites richer and more meaningful by her local knowledge, commentary and by asking the numerous questions we had about life in Kyoto and behind the scenes, living in Japan.
Thank you Chris for your review. I really enjoyed talking with you and Stephanie and lots of interesting discussions/comparisons during the tour. I remember I felt the time with you went so fast and wish we had more time together. Hope you had a great time for the rest of your stay in Kyoto and Osaka! Seiko
Thanks a lot for our Japen experience:) it is was very good.
Thank you Hanna! I hope you'll have a great time for the rest of your time in Japan..Enjoy my home town too:) Спасибо большое! Seiko
Seiko was great and so responsive to our family's needs. I highly recommend her.
Thanks Ali for your review. I had a great day with your family. Hope the kids will remember some Japanese until next time☺ Seiko
Seiko is an excellent guide whom I would absolutely recommend.
Thank you David for the fun day. We covered a lot dispite the rain thanks to your energy! Please also send my regards to your lovely wife Susie☺
Really fantastic tour. My family and I were only here for about 3 days and since there was so much to see and do it was a little overwhelming trying to plan what exactly the best plan of action would be. With Seiko she took care of the entire itinerary and guided us throughout Kyoto easily. By the time the tour ended we knew we wouldn’t have been able to do this on our own. She spoke vey good English and was even there for us via email for the rest of the trip if we had any questions or recommendations! It was almost like we were meeting up with a friend to guide us around the city. Overall we definitely recommend :) thank you Seiko for the wonderful day!
Thank you so much for the kind comments, Sarah. I felt we didn't have enough time together even after 10 hours, sad to leave you guys in Kyoto after knowing more about you and your family and seeing you guys enjoying Kyoto. I greatly appreciate you adopted my recommendations despite your wish list, which made this tour more efficiently done with the best spots we could do within the limited time! Thank you all for being patient with walking a lot and the cold weather (compared to Tampa!), as well! Best wishes to all for the new year!! Seiko
Seiko was very punctual, knowledgeable and caring. We really enjoyed the itinerary she had planned taking into consider our preferences. She also shared many valuable knowledge with us. She was very accommodating in adjusting our itinerary on the day itself. Making sure we cover as much as we could. Seiko also did her best to provide us recommendations for our stay in Osaka. Although there was a lot of walking for us but it was really a fruitful, worthwhile and enjoyable trip. This trip was the best part of my first trip to Japan. We were very thankful and appreciative of Seiko!
Thank you so much Linda for your kind comments! I am sometimes nervous when I don't know exactly what my clients want to see for the limited time but as you cleared my concern in the communications we had before and also during the tour. I'm so glad to hear you enjoyed Kyoto despite lots of walking and bags from the shopping^^ I am also thankful for your whole family to show me the smiles and interests in the sites we visited. Lovely people!! Hope you'll have a chance to come back to Japan as a family trip again. Thanks again!!! Seiko
Seiko was an excellent guide for our all-day tour in Osaka. Prior to our trip, Seiko contacted us to get an idea of where we wanted to visit on our and offered her recommendations as well, since we only mentioned Osaka Castle! We had a packed itinerary and visited many of the popular spots in Osaka/Namba like Dotonbori, Shinsaibashi, Minami, (and also the Castle), etc. Seiko also took the time to plan and take us off the beaten path and through some of the older and more "local" areas of the City which we really enjoyed along with the personal insight that she provided. It really showed her knowledge, passion and love for the City. We also had lunch together and it was great just kicking-back and talking about stuff Japanese! The entire day was a balance of taking as much in, while s... read more
Thank you so much for your very kind comments, David! Your review is so precious and motivating. I am particularly happy to hear that you enjoyed seeing the local parts of Osaka as I try to show some of our daily life to my clients during the tour. And also thank you for listening to my talks patiently - I love to talk about Osaka as you could tell! I had a few more places that I wanted to take you, but well until next time! Mahalo!!! Seiko
Seiko guided our clients at Himeji Castle and in Osaka's dotonbori district. Our clients enjoyed the tour and we would use her services again in the future.
Thank you for your review. I also enjoyed the tour with your clients. Your arranged itinerary was great for them as well. Hope to work with you again in the future. Seiko
We had the good fortune of meeting Seiko during our recent trip to Kyoto. There are 3 of us and we wanted to visit various sights we didn't get to see the day prior from a bike tour. Despite the distant location of each sight and the limited time, Seiko was very helpful and accommodating when putting together our itinerary for us. She even made some terrific suggestions (Sake tasting) and we had a blast spending the day with her. Her English was excellent and she was by far the best tour guide during our 11 day trip inJapan. She offered a lot of history and information at each place we visited. I only wish we could spend more time with her that day. We will definitely have her guide us again when we return to Kyoto and Osaka. Thank you Seiko!!!
Thanks Patricia for your kind comment! You guys were so fun and excited, and I really had a great time with the Angels!!! I'm glad to hear that you enjoyed my tour and felt the same way - I wished we'd had more time together!!! I hope you enjoyed Gion Odori as well and see you some time again in Japan! Charlie / Seiko
Very good English speaker. Knowledgeable with her job. Saved us alot of train money
Thank you Justin! Good to hear that I could be of your help. I was worried I might have rushed you as too much I wanted you guys to see all the sites you had thoughtfully planned to visit for your wife and friends! Hope you could find the stores and enjoyed other sites of Kansai as well. Seiko
Turned out to be an excellent idea to spend the evening with someone who knows the whereabouts of the city. Great "insider"-food, dishes a foreigner would not even consider to taste since he has no clue that they exist - down to earth dishes and thanks to the local guide immediate interaction with local guests, great fun, lovely people. Experience continued in a Sake Bar ...--> absolute take advantage of someone who knows the backstreets and can bring you closer to every day Japanese live.
Thank you, Sonia! I am very happy to see your comments. I was a bit worried when I met you at the hotel as you look so proper and professional that made me wonder if you'll like my way of showing the deep local atmosphere of Osaka : ) As much as I enjoyed the time with you, the Osaka locals we met at each place enjoyed it and thanked me so much as they had such a great time with you too. Hope you also had a great time in Hiroshima and Koyasan! Thanks again! Seiko
This was a fun tour - relaxing and got to see the little bars and restaurants - enjoying the local sake and delicious food, followed by the bright lights of Dotonbori. Seiko explained many features of the culture in Osaka which was very interesting. Seiko was a great guide - thoroughly recommend this tour with Seiko especially if you feel like a fun night out.
Thank you Susan! I also enjoyed the great night out together, especially the last glass of sake with you guys! That night went how I want my tour to be like, and I'm very glad you liked it as much as I did. Your son is so right, Namba is a fun place to hang out at night, and I appreciate your son's advice too for the wonderful night with you. Hope you'll also enjoy your time in Shanghai with your family. Seiko
We spent a day with Seiko in Kyoto and had a wonderful time exploring and learning about the city and Japanese culture. I think we plied Seiko with a million questions and she was able to answer everything effortlessly and patiently. :)
Thanks so much Jade!! We did a lot more than what I planned during our 6-hour tour. Your energy and interests maximized our time together, which I really appreciated too. I especially enjoyed hiking to the top of Mt. Inari with you guys on a beautiful day. Lucky me!!! Thanks again and hope you enjoyed the rest of your time in Kyoto and Japan. Seiko
Our family of 5 had a great day tour of Kyoto with Seiko. She put together an interesting itinerary based on our requests. She was patient and thoughtful, contacting us several times before the tour to recommend start times and locations, according to the weather and our requests. Her English is excellent and she provided detailed information on all the sights. The highlight for our family (all over the drinking age!), was a tour of a sake museum, a walk around the area and sake tasting. She introduced us to a whole new delicious type of sake, which we proceeded to drink everywhere we could find it! She gave us insight and tours of places we would never have found, or known about with out her help. We highly recommend her. She also followed up after the tour with some recommendations o... read more
Thank you so much for your nicest comment!! I had a great time with you and your family although the time was limited. Thanks everyone for being patient with my English explanation and showing a lot of interest in the sites we visited, food and culture you encountered. What a lovely family:) I'm also really happy to hear you continued to enjoy sake for the rest of your time - it's a very special treat for those who came all the way to Japan!! Thanks again for choosing me as your guide. Seiko
We were so fortunate to have Seiko take us around. We enjoyed the food, shopping, and going thru the interesting backstreets. Seiko was accommodating, easy to understand, and especially mindful of our wishes. Highly recommended.
Thank you Donna!!! It was really nice to meet your family and guide you around in my home ground- Namba:) I was also so excited about our coincidence - Stout! Hope you could cover the sites you wanted to visit in the area despite the rain and everyone enjoyed the time in Japan!
She was on time (or even too early) at the meeting point. Additionally, her English is very good and she is completely flexible in regards of the tour design. Had also Lunch with her in a typical Japanese-Tofu-Restaurant. Learnt alot from Seiko about Japanese culture. Thanks again.
Thank you, Pino & Beatrice. I had a great time with you, and thank you for the lunch as well. I am glad that you could enjoy the special tofu lunch at the beautiful & traditional temple restaurant as much as I did. I also enjoyed talking with you about Switzerland! Hope you could see Mt. Fuji on the way to Tokyo and had a chance to find and try "Pino" ice cream somewhere! Thanks again!!! Seiko
We are enjoying the company of a superior Guide who puts her clients’ needs above all else. She has very excellent communication skills and her tours are very well organized. We highly recommend her to anyone visiting the Osaja, Kyoto, Nara and the nearby Cities.
Thank you Arthur, Tina, Danny, Vita, and Isabelle! I really enjoyed each day of walking and chatting with you and missed you guys after 4 days together. I needed more time with you for more Japanese food and drinks! It was nice to know you all and hopefully we can see each other again in the near future. Thanks again for everything! Seiko
Seiko helped plan a comprehensive Kyoto itinerary for us, helping us cover most of what we wanted to see in Kyoto. We had no problem communicating with her at all, with her excellent English skills, and she was very personable and knowledgeable about all the sites we visited, taking the time to explain to us the culture and history behind them. Thank you very much for making our Kyoto tour a very informative and smooth one!
Thank you Ana! I was so relieved and glad that you survived the 10-hour walking tour and enjoyed Kyoto! Although there are a lot more to see in Kyoto, we could cover so many sites thanks to your great motivation and cooperation. Hope your schedule didn't get much affected by the typhoon (or did you get an extra bonus day in Osaka?;-) and you'll come visit Japan again to see more! Seiko
Seiko was the perfect guide for us! She is very knowledgeable and tireless. We explored around Osaka on one day, and toured Fushimi & Uji on another, including sake and tea tasting. She knew wonderful places to take us, many of which were not typical tourist places. She was a pleasure to be with and her English is excellent. Highly recommend booking Seiko!
Thank you Ellen and Andy for the fun two days! I also had a great time as I get to know you, chat with you about lots of things and see you enjoy eating and drinking during the tour:) The two days went so fast and I wished we had more time together!!! Thanks again for choosing me as your guide, and hope you enjoy the rest of your time in Japan. Seiko
Seiko was so awesome - we miss her! My wife and I were visiting Japan for the first time, as well as celebrating our honeymoon. We knew having someone local to help with the language, as well as the history and culture, would be a huge help to getting the most from our visit. This was our first time hiring a guide of any kind, so we were a bit nervous what to expect. We opted to choose 1 or 2 of TripleLights' suggestions, but mostly we wanted to design our own trip. Seiko not only paid close attention to our ideas and wishes, but she expanded on them and suggested exciting options we hadn't considered. With a few effortless email exchanges, Seiko created a very personalized itinerary that maximized our time together and exceeded what we thought possible in our allotted time! We would n... read more
Thank you Loren and Annie for such a wonderful time and the nicest review. This really motivates me to be a better guide for anyone who comes to see our country! I was really impressed by the knowledge and information you already had about Japanese food and knives and grateful for your appreciation and respect for our food and culture. The tour with you gave me a great learning opportunity as well. Thanks again and hope you'll come back to Japan for more adventure and deeper exploration of Japanese food. Seiko
We had a very great experience with Seiko! She met us at the café next to our hotel, and we walked the streets of Dotonburi on our way to Osaka Castle. She was friendly and so nice! She also brought us to Kuromon Market which was one of the best experiences of our trip! We loved it so much, we went back for more street food! She was so patient with us and gave us the ability to customize our tour and stop at places we wanted to go! It was fun getting to know her and she was very outgoing! We will definitely recommend and call her on our next visit to Japan! Thank you so much Seiko for the wonderful tour!!!
Thank you Gretchen for the nicest comments!! I had so much fun with you too and felt happy to see you guys were excited to try all the different and local foods in the market (although some of them was not the greatest taste :-( ) Thanks for all the food and beer(!?) you kindly shared for me. It was the best part of our day on a sweating summer day. Hope we'll see each other again in Osaka or somewhere in Japan. I'll definitely keep my calendar open for you guys next time. Thanks again!
Seiko was adorable! Energetic and knowledgeable, she guided us through Fushimi Inari Shrine, Kiyomizu-dera, Gion, Nishiki Market, and Arashyama. We had a fun-filled day walking the streets of Kyoto learning about the culture, tasting local foods and taking pictures of the beautiful scenery. Seiko was warm and friendly with a good sense of humor and greatly enhanced our trip.
Thank you so much for your kind comments, Anne. We did so much that day, not just shrine and temple but also the festival, food and cycling from the east end to west end of Kyoto! It was the hottest day in Kyoto this summer, but I am glad you still enjoyed the tour. Everyone was physically strong and also patient with the temperature and crowds which made it a great day despite the heat. Hope you also enjoyed other parts of Japan after Kyoto! Thanks again. Seiko
I'm Sorry . I was late to write review for Seiko. As our trip at Kyoto, she is not only as our guide but she also put herself as part ot our Family, her patience, her concern until small things about us, and her timeliness, and her knowledge about all place that we visit are very good, and she quickly got along with us all. We all family, are very gratefull dan appreciate for what she have done to us. Once again, thx Mrs Seiko and we hope we'll see u again at our next trip to Japan.
Thank you for having me as a part of your family during the tour!! Your whole family was so welcoming and patient with me during the tour. And thanks for liking Japan so much too. Please keep in touch and I look forward to hearing about the boys as well☺ Cheers!
Seiko was knowledgeable, fluent and flexible. highly recommended. we had a great time with her visiting Osaka for the day.
Thanks Tony for the fun day! I really enjoyed the tour with you and was happy to see you smile all the time. Your family is amazing, and wish all the best to everyone. Please don't forget Kushikatsu :) and hope you have a chance to visit Japan again.
Seiko was an excellent guide! Taking me to hidden places within Japan that only the locals can go to. Very informative and ensured I was happy and safe (being a solo traveller) would definitely recommend!
Thanks Adrienne! It was a great lady's night!! I hope you enjoyed the last few days in Osaka and will come back to Japan some day again.
I had a wonderful time with Seiko on my excursion to Wazuka and Uji. The tea fields in Wazuka were beautiful and I enjoyed shopping for green teas in Uji. Seiko was knowledgeable and we had great conversation throughout our time together. I'd highly recommend Seiko as your tour guide.
I had such a wonderful time with you too, Laurie! I'm really glad that you liked Wazuka as I think it's so special and also you came during the best season to visit. Thank you for choosing my tour which I created for someone like you who appreciate the delicacy of Uji tea. Hope to keep in touch and see you again in Japan! Thank you. Seiko
Seiko was really wonderful. She was knowledgeable and showed us parts of Kyoto we might not have ever thought of (like where the cormorant fishing area and the statue of Genji are). She was pleasant and accommodating and was truly great to see the city with. I really enjoyed the tea district and was able to buy green tea in an old tea house where dignitaries have stopped in to visit. I will definitely recommend her services to friends and family visiting Kyoto!
Romina, thanks so much for your kind comments. I also had a great time with you all. I could tell everyone was interested in our culture and the beauty of Kyoto, and then asked me many questions, which really motivates me to be able to explain things better! I am also glad to hear that you liked the areas I took during the tour:) Hope you had a great time for the rest of your time in Kyoto and Osaka, and enjoy reading The Tale of Genji someday! Thanks again!!!! Seiko
Seiko could not have been more accommodating during the planning of the tour as well as during the tour itself. She has a wonderful attitude as well as an understanding of the locations we visited. I have no complaints whatsoever and would recommend her highly.
Thank you Ira and Chelsea for the great time and kind comments. I was really glad to see you enjoying the Nipponbashi etc. and interests in our history, culture and food. Also thank you for telling me what you are interested to see in Osaka in advance which made my planning easy and efficient. Hope you both enjoyed your entire time during the first trip to Japan and come back again some day:-)
Seiko has a warm enthusiastic personality and spoke excellent English. We saw beautiful and wonderous parts of both cities and loved both new and old Japan through her eyes. Thank you Seiko for such a fun visit! Will, Julia, Bob and Cheri
Thank you, Julia, Will, Bob, and Cheri for the great time together. I enjoyed talking with you all and sakura so much to the extent sometimes forgot that I was guiding you around! And special thanks to the secret sake under sakura to end our Kyoto tour!! I wish you had more time in Osaka too, but glad to hear that you enjoyed the tour. Thanks again!!!! Seiko
Seiko was very warm, approachable and knowledgeable with Osaka's rich history. She is very responsive to questions before and also during the tour. She was very flexible to all our requests, will definitely recommend her to family and friends planing on visiting Osaka.
Thank you Jess and the whole family! It was my pleasure to guide you all and also good experience to lead a big group of people with different generations and demands. Everyone was patient with me especially about walking so much during the tour. Thanks again and hope to see any of you if ever coming back to Osaka! Seiko
Despite the rain, we had a GREAT tour with Seiko, and her friend Kuriko (who spoke Spanish (as my wife is Spanish). We visited everywhere planned, and before all the crowds arrived on the tour buses, and had a great (and cheap) meal in a local restaurant. A wonderful day with someone who has great enthusiasm and infectious humour. THANK you.
Hi Barry, thanks for the wonderful time together. Although the rainy weather was a bit disappointing, I enjoyed guiding you and Merce, and we laughed so much during the tour too! It was also great you both are great walkers so that made it all happen! I hope you had a great time for the rest of your cruise trip in Japan. Thanks again. Seiko
Seiko made our stay in Japan more exciting and memorable. I love our Kyoto tour! Aside from speaking english very well, she's very patient with us, we are a family of 5, i have 3 boys with me, just imagine that. I will definitely recommend her. Hopefully when we comeback, we can have her again as our tour guide.
Thank you Christine! I also enjoyed the tour with you and your family. It's always great to have guests like you, curious about our food and culture. I hope the boys enjoyed Osaka and Kyoto too. They were such good boys! Thanks again to you and your family and hope to see you again!
