The grand Tori Gate of the Itsukushima shrine in Miyajima is fully covered now with scaffold due to its repair work as it has been more than 140 years since the present 8th gate was erected in 1875. The completion time has not been informed yet. However what Miyajima has is not only the Tori Gate. 14 % of the whole island was designated as a UNESCO world heritage site. The gate is just part of it and I believe you still cannot miss this beautiful island even the gate itself is covered unfortunately. Thanks for your understanding. read more
