About Tour Guide Tomoko T.
Hello!! My name is Tomoko. I’m an interpreter, translator and a flexible personal tour guide. My current base is in Fukuoka. I live here for 11 years. More than 3 decades, I have lived in various places in Japan and US such as some areas in Shizuoka and Gifu, a few areas in Connecticut, California, and New York. Also, I’ve travelled to domestic spots in Japan, overseas like USA, Europe such as Italy, Germany, France, and Switzerland.
Through those valuable experiences, I’ve been fond of meeting diverse people from all over the world and to get to know them and share lots of knowledge, wisdom, information, history with them.
In 2013, I was offered as an consecutive interpreter when 3 guest speakers from US and Mexico came to Japan. Also I was assigned to do escort interpreter. It means I had to take them to tourist spots in Kanto region where I was not familiar with. The experience made my eyes open a lot and changed my whole perspective to be a tour guide.
Every spot or town has profound history behind it. It is quite fascinating. Guests are fascinated by what they feel, see and touch. Since then, I focus on retaining the wide eyed curiosity like a child. I enjoy being a personal tour guide to guests.
Fukuoka is one of the largest city and the most convenient place in terms of access to popular spots, nature, and transportation. There are lots of well-kept secret spots as well. On my days off, I love to spend lots of time with my son and do outdoor activities together. For instance, go swimming, hiking, walking, playing badminton, tasting many kinds of gourmet and watch movies like action, comedy, and Sci-Fi.

“Great Day in Fukuoka with Tomoko!”
Tomoko was awesome! She has great energy and is very easy to get along with. She was willing to answer all sorts of questions about Japanese culture and even her own family and experiences, and we had a great exchange and learned a lot about each other. She is knowledgeable about the places we visited, which gave us a much deeper understanding of what we saw and the history of Fukuoka. Her English is impeccable and she is very easy to understand. Tomoko put together a great itinerary for us based on what I told her our interests were, and she was very responsive throughout the entire proposal and booking process. She had no problem making some minor adjustments to the itinerary and being flexible the day of the tour. We were the only ones on our cruise ship who saw some of the sights that we did, and they were the highlights for us! We made a great friend in Tomoko, and everyone in our group agreed that they'd highly recommend her to anyone who is visiting Fukuoka.

Tomoko showed us around Fukuoka. She is an amazing person. Wery cheerful and charismatic. She arranged everything from transport to tickets. Her english was very good. We had a great time and highly recommend her as a guide.
