About Tour Guide Kaoru T.
Hello. I was born in Kyoto and moved to Osaka, then live in Nara now. There were an opportunity to spend ten years in London as a housewife, tourist, student for flower arrangement, etc., amateur flutist and Japanese language tutor for English business people from 1993 to 2003. After coming back to Japan, I had ten years’ activity of volunteer English guide around Nara in Japan, and I became a national certified tour guide. While my hobby is the tea ceremony and also teaching foreign people, I enjoy cooking and tasting Japanese sake.

“Pleasant but Uninformative”
Kaoru was pleasant but overall uninformative providing us little information on sites we visited. She also didn't explain that we were going on trains to sites so we left our Japan rail pass at our apartment...She did have a pleasant demeanor and led us through sites once we arrived there..

“Pleasant guide, very knowledgeable”
Kaoru is a sweet and gentle person with much knowledge to share about Japan, customs, and Kyoto in particular. She speaks good English and is very pleasant to be with. My family took a custom tour with Kaoru and she started our day by explaining where we would go. As the day progressed, and my family over-stayed our time on some portions of the tour, Kaoru graciously worked with us to adapt the time remaining to the highest priority scenic venues. Kaoru used her expert knowledge to tailor our tour to the subjects we were interested in: architecture, gardens, and customs. All together we very much enjoyed Kaoru’s guidance and sharing of knowledge of the history and culture of Japan. The Japanese garden at the imperial palace is perhaps the finest Japanese garden we’ve ever toured. One particularly unique aspect of Kaoru’s tour were all of the transportation accommodations we exploited to move around Kyoto, including trains, subways, buses, trams and even a taxi. This helped us travel efficiently between venues and was a worthy experience in and of its self.

Inspite of a lot of changes of the transportation, you and your family never complained, very patient, and walked very well. The atmosphere of imperial palace matched your family. “Kyoto highlights ”
Kaoru-San is so sweet and accommodating. She picked us up on time as we got off the train in Kyoto. We have been in constant contact prior to meeting up and Kaoru-San did her best to arrange to have all my must-see attractions squeezed into one day. She's super knowledgeable and very friendly. I would recommend her in a heartbeat. Thank you again. You made our day in Kyoto memorable!!

You, your family, and your friend challenged a lot of things during one day trip from Tokyo, such as kimono wearing in the bamboo grove, visiting traditional places in Kyoto, cherry blossom viewing, etc. I was surprised you got up very early to catch the bullet train and prepared very well for you trip to Japan. It made the tour happy and enjoyable. Happines for everybody, I hope. Tha....Ajinomoto!!!
