About Tour Guide Maki H.
Hello! My name is Maki. Thank you very much for your interest. I am a licensed local guide interpreter of Kagoshima, Japan. I live in a place where I see Mt. Sakurajima, our mother volcano, gently smoking most of the time or just sometimes vigorously erupting. I started my career as a hotel concierge. After staying in the U.K. for a couple of years, I became a language teacher. Since then I have had thousands of pupils at primary schools in Kagoshima city. I love meeting people and sharing a happy time. I am quite new as an interpreter, but I would be grateful if I could welcome you to my home town with lots of dynamic sceneries, interesting stories from the past and attractive people’s life. Sakurajima volcano & Senganen samurai garden in Kagoshima
“Excellent Guide”
We went on a 6 hour tour with Maki to see the beautiful Samurai Gardens and the lookout to the volcano. Make was very thorough in contacting us in advance and arranging our meeting point and local transportation. Everything went very smoothly. She was a very kind, knowledgeable, and wonderful guide, making sure to give us good information, and making sure we were comfortable. And there were extras, too. For example, we didn't have time to stop for a meal, so she had stopped at a store in advance of the tour and bought us sandwiches we could eat on the go. We stopped at a spot where we could experience the custom of soaking our feet in a volcanic hot spring, and she provided a gift of small towels so we could dry off our feet. She took pictures of us and sent those by email. Just lots of little extras that made it a good day. Her English is very good (she teaches English at a local elementary school). We had a good tour, ran on time, and we enjoyed our day with her. We'd highly recommend her.

Senganen Kagoshima -a traditional Japanese garden (half day)
“Excellent English Speaking Guide”
We thoroughly enjoyed our tour of senganen gardens. Maki was very charming and provided us with an excellent education about this important UNESCO World Heritage Site. It quite beautiful and a must see…especially with Maki. My husband and I couldn’t have had a better tour guide and senganen tour.

Maki helped us getting a minibus to take the 14 of us touring Kagoshima to visit a beautiful Sengamen Garden & Old Lord's house, get a take out for lunch so we can continue to Shiroyama Park to view city and mountain while having lunch, last spot is visiting downtown Tenmokon a very nice compact 6 hours tour.
