Highlights of Ljubljana- the capital of Slovenia
Ljubljana became the capital of independent country over 30 years ago. It is still concidered as an unknown place, however, in 2010 gained the title "World Book Capital", in 2016 the title "Green Capital of Europe", in 2021 unique masterpieces of Architect Jože Plečnik were listed on UNESCO World heritage list and for the year 2022 Ljubljana was declared as the "Best European Destination 2022". Enough reasons to visit us?

We can meet in your hotel/accomodation. However, if you prefer, we can meet in the city centre at the monument dedicated to the greatest Slovenian poet France Prešeren. Along the Three Bridges and Market Alley done by architect Jože Plečnik we will walk along the river of Ljubljanica.
Farmer's Market & the Dragon Bridge
The city symbol and the main city attraction is our Green Dragon. Let's see how it is going to pose for our photo.
Funicular to the Castle
The most visited site in Ljubljana is our Castle. We can take a funicular (additional costs) or we can walk. Worth visiting, from the top of the hill we can admire 30% of Slovenian territory.
Cathedral St Nicholas & CIty Hall
After coming back to the city we will walk along the Cathedral (if you want to visit it you need to pay 2 EUR Entrance fee) and City Hall. We shall stroll along the old part of the city and discover some contemporary art as well. There will be enough opportunities to grab a snack or enjoy a cup of coffee/tea or soft drink along the river.
Congress Square
The biggest park in the city center is Congress Square with an University and Philharmonic Palace. The contemporary story we will spice up with some stories from the Roman Times.
Republic Square
Slovenia is an independent country and most of the events and receptions are held od Republic Square in front of our Parliament. Just next to it we have also Slovenian National Museum as well as Opera and Balet Theater.
Prešeren Square
The end of the tour. We should get enough ideas for your time off and your own discoveries of our beloved city.

We are going to walk a lot (do not know how many steps, you can help me with counting them), however, there will be enough possibilites to take a break as well. Just please make sure you are going to have comfortable shoes and be dressed according to the weather conditions.
