Tips
Don't miss the opportunity to get to know this essential attraction in the surroundings of Madrid: escape the busy city and let yourself be enchanted by the beautiful views that Segovia offers, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
Explore the medieval streets of Segovia and learn about its origins as a Roman stronghold and subsequent development as one of the most notable medieval cities in Spain.
Our journey into Segovia begins with a breathtaking view of the incredibly well-conserved Roman Aqueduct, a perfect opportunity to snap a stunning panoramic photo: marvel at the iconic 2nd-century monument, considered the most important example of Roman-era civil engineering in Spain and one of the best preserved Roman aqueducts in the world.
From the Aqueduct, we will head into the medieval part of town and enjoy the wondrous views from the Canaleja viewpoint, while enjoying a guided walking tour through narrow streets and the old Jewish quarter.
We will continue onto the Plaza Mayor and marvel at the spectacular Segovia Cathedral, a 16th-century Gothic Cathedral, known as the “Lady of all Cathedrals” due to its size and elegance.
Next, we will walk through the Canonjías district towards the famous Alcazar, one of Spain's most magnificent castles from the 12th century that appears to be in the shape of a ship. Built on a rocky crag above the Eresma and Clamores rivers near the Guadarrama mountains, it was once the fortified residence of the Kings of Castille, before serving as a state prison. You will marvel at its spectacular architecture which served as inspiration for a famous Disney film.
Optional typical lunch to taste Segovia's culinary specialties at a traditional old tavern: large broad beans from La Granja, roast suckling pig, Segovian tart “ponche segoviano”(sponge cake and marzipan pastry). Vegetarian or coeliac menu available on request.
