- US airport security can be somewhat strict. Simply stay polite and patient and you shouldn’t have any problems. 

- Look into car rental options if you plan to travel long distances. Public transportation is only really available in large urban areas. Using rideshare apps or taxis is also a good option. 

- Local culture can differ greatly depending on the State you are visiting, so do some research and be sensitive to regional differences.

- Smile, be friendly, and shake hands when meeting someone new. 

- Be respectful towards others. 

- Tip at least 15-20% of the bill total in restaurants, and 10-15% for other services (baggage handlers, taxi drivers, etc.). 

- Punctuality is important, don’t be late for reservations or meetings. 

- Be aware of local cultural differences (some states may be more conservative than others). 

Don’ts: 

- Don’t assume you can smoke anywhere, in general smoking is banned indoors and in many public spaces. 

- Don’t expect to see everything - the US is a large country and you’ll be hard pressed to experience everything in one trip. 

- Don’t mimic accents or use American slang when speaking with strangers (it may be seen as rude). 

- Don’t discuss sensitive subjects such as religion or politics unless you really know the person you’re talking to. 

- Don’t push past people or make physical contact with strangers.
