We will explore the two ancient quarters of the city of Berat, Mangalem and Gorica, where 'Stones Tell History'. We will explore the place together with its history, legends, and way of life. Then we will go to cook together to have lunch as a family in Berat.

Meeting Point
Hanging Bridge (Ura e Varur)
- After meeting at the Hanging Bridge, located in front of Fast Food Lundra 2 and the Bachelor Mosque. We will make the presentation and explain the tour
Walking through Gorica neighborhood
Gorica is an ancient neighborhood but with a very different architecture from Mangalem, the houses have courtyards and balconies. We will cross the Hanging Bridge and walk through the neighborhood.
We visit:
- The Church of Saint Thomas, built in the 19th century
- The alleys of the neighborhood, traditional houses in the city
- The Church of Saint Spiridon, late 18th century, early 19th
- We pass by the house of Margarita Tutulani, an anti-fascist activist during World War II.
- We visit a room in the neighborhood that shows the most important figures who have visited the city of Berat over the years.
- The Gorica Bridge, we cross the bridge to the other side of the neighborhood.
Walking through Mangalem neighborhood
We climb to the Mangalem neighborhood to explore the neighborhood from the inside, what from a distance we see as the city of "one above the other windows". After walking through it we go out to the Salomon Museum, an expedition on the initiative of a Berat family has placed in a room information about the Jews in the city of Berat.
Medieval area
After finishing our visit to the Salomon Museum, we go down to the medieval area. We visit:
- Pasha's Palace (what's left of it)
- King's Mosque
- Helvetite Tekke
Centre of the City
We go to the city centre where we will visit:
- Saint Demetrius Cathedral
- Lead Mosque
- City Centre

- Enter the mosque or church it is 1 euro/person
- Visit the Onufri Museum (at the castle) or the Ethnographic Museum ( Medieval Aria) it is 400 lek/person (4 euros) or 300 lek (3 euros) for groups of 12 and up.
- Evry expense as necessary for themselves
1. You should wear comfortable shoes because we will be walking a lot.
2. You should have water with you
3. The tour through both the neighborhoods of Gorica and Mangalem is not suitable for people with wheelchairs, because we will be going up and down through the neighborhoods. (Only if we agree as a group to do the tour from outside the neighborhoods, explaining everything about them.)
4. This tour is not recommended for those with severe back/knee problems.
