A pair of guardian foxes symbolizing Inari Shrines
In my tour, Kamakura History & neighboring area excursion, after a visit to Tsurugaoka Hachiman shrine, you walk on a moutain trail a short distance. At the beginning of the trail, there is Sasuke Inari Shrine associated with the founder of Kamakura Shogunate, Minamoto Yoritomo. Through this shrine to the next destination, the great statue of Buddha, you start to understand why Kamakura was chosen as the seat of Kamakura Shogunate.
