Meeting Point
Inat kuća
- We meet in the Old Town—it's the perfect starting point! Meet us in front of the famous Inat Kuća (Spite House) restaurant. Meeting Time: Please arrive 10 minutes before the tour starts so we can check you in and start on time.
Umoljani
Our adventure on foot begins in the historic mountain village of Umoljani, the official starting point of our hike to Lukomir. From here, we will ascend towards Gradina, a picturesque summer pastoral settlement filled with traditional stone huts and stunning panoramic views of the surrounding peaks. After exploring Gradina, we will continue our trek along the spectacular ridge overlooking the deep Rakitnica Canyon, making our way toward Bosnia's highest and most remote village.
Obalj
From Gradina, we leave the valley behind and begin our steady ascent toward the summit of Obalj Peak ($1896\text{ m}$). This section of the trail offers some of the most breathtaking, 360-degree views of the entire Bjelašnica range. Standing at the peak, you'll look directly down into the dramatic Rakitnica Canyon and see our final destination, Lukomir, nestled on the cliff edge far below. It’s the perfect spot for a short break and some unforgettable photos before we start our descent.
Lukomir
As we descend from Obalj, we arrive in Lukomir, Bosnia's highest and most isolated mountain village. This place is incredibly special to us—our roots are right here, and during our visit, you'll get to see the traditional stone house that belonged to my grandmother and grandfather (nana and dedo)! To top off this authentic experience, we will sit down for a delicious, hearty homemade lunch prepared by a local family, giving you a true taste of traditional mountain hospitality and cuisine before we explore the village's unique lifestyle and historic architecture.
Čuhovići
After our time in Lukomir, our journey takes us to Čuhovići, another remarkably preserved, high-altitude mountain village on Bjelašnica. This stop has a very special place in our hearts—this is actually where my grandmother (nana) was born and raised before she married and moved to Lukomir! Walking through this peaceful settlement feels like stepping back in time, surrounded by traditional architecture and rolling alpine meadows. It’s a beautiful, deeply personal way to experience the quiet, slow-paced rhythm of traditional nomadic life before we begin our journey back to Sarajevo.
Blaca
Our journey continues to Blatačko Lake, a hidden gem tucked away in a remote karst plateau of Bjelašnica. This pristine, glacial lake is surrounded by untouched nature and carries an air of ancient mystery. Just a short walk from the water, we will visit a lonely, scenic chapel perched on the hills, standing near ancient medieval tombstones (stećci). It is a deeply spiritual and quiet place where history, legend, and nature blend together perfectly—offering a serene moment to reflect before we head back.

“One of the Best Guides I’ve Ever Met”
I had two wonderful guides during my time in Bosnia, and she was truly one of the best. She’s incredibly knowledgeable, professional, and passionate about her work. What made her stand out even more was her genuine kindness and warm personality. She didn’t just guide me, she shared her heart, her stories, and her love for her country. It was an unforgettable experience, and I feel lucky to have met such a dedicated and inspiring person
