Byward Market
We will visit the Market Hall, built in 1926, the fifth version of the building to stand on this spot since the original was build almost 100 years earlier by the founder of the city.
OTTAWA sign
Snap a selfie with the sign!
Major's Hill Park
We'll explore this beautiful clifftop park overlooking the Ottawa River. Highlights include a visit to the site of the house of Colonel By, the founder of Bytown, which later became Ottawa, and the statue of the man himself, as well as great spots for scenic photos of the river, Gatineau, the National Museum of History, and the back of Parliament Hill.
Rideau Canal Locks
A little history about the historic Fairmont Chateau Laurier and a walk across the locks with an opportunity for more photos. You'll learn about this history of the canal and it works. We'll also pay a visit to Ottawa's oldest building.
Parliament Hill from the back!
We'll tour around the back of Parliament Hill where there are historical monuments and stories to be told. We'll visit the bell that survived the fire and discuss the theories about how one part of Parliament survived when the rest was destroyed.
The Centennial Flame and the Peace Tower
We'll move around to the lawn at the front of Parliament Hill and visit the Centennial Flame, sometimes called the Eternal Flame. A great stop for photos of Parliament and a chance to make a wish in the fountain.
National War Memorial
Built after the Great War, which later became known as World War 1, this cenotaph then took on the memory of more wars as the years went on. It now also hosts The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, where we can honour those who will never be found, and can never be claimed.
Train Station (Senate)
This building is the original train station from when the train came all the way downtown.

On weekdays I am only available after 2pm.
I'm an Ottawa native with a talent for sharing facts and stories about the world around me. I love to explore and show off the best places to visit, and the best ways to see them. As a person with physical challenges, I recognize and respect the difficulty of seeing a place with physical limitations. With this in mind, I am always paying attention to accessibility and how it can be done with any and all abilities. I believe the world belongs to everyone, not just those with so-called ideal bodies.
