Founded in 1884, Panadería San Camilo is one of Santiago’s most historic and cherished bakery chains. Renowned for its traditional baking heritage, it offers a wide variety of fresh Chilean breads, like marraquetas and hallullas with sweet treats like calzones rotos y empolvados. For over a century, it has remained a staple of daily life and local food culture in central Santiago.
Completería Ravera
Ravera is a historic and traditional restaurant in Santiago's Plaza de Armas, inside Portal Fernández Concha. Operating since 1938, it is famous for serving authentic, classic Chilean Completos and Italianos (hot dogs loaded with ingredients like mashed avocado, diced tomatoes, and house-made mayonnaise, very popular) It offers a nostalgic, fast-paced dining experience in the heart of the city's historical center.
Empanadas Zunino
Empanadas Zunin, founded in 1930 is one of Santiago’s most iconic and historic empanada spots. Famous for its traditional Chilean empanadas de pino (savory baked pastries filled with seasoned minced beef, onions, a hard-boiled egg, and black olives) Serving generations of locals and visitors, it remains an essential stop for classic Chilean street food.
Mercado Central de Santiago
Inaugurated in 1872, Mercado Central is one of Santiago’s most iconic landmarks and a hub for Chilean seafood culture. Famous for its distinctive architecture it has been designated National Monument. Inside, visitors can experience a lively, colorful atmosphere with bustling fishmonger stalls offering a wide variety of fresh fish and shellfish, alongside traditional restaurants serving classic Chilean seafood dishes like chupe de jaiba, machas a la parmesasa and fresh ceviche.
Mercado de Abastos Tirso de Molina
Located just across the Mapocho River from Mercado Central, Mercado Tirso de Molina is a vibrant, multi-story market celebrated for its authentic flavors and diverse food culture. On the ground floor, colorful stalls overflow with fresh fruits, vegetables, flowers, and local produce. La Vega Central
La Vega Central is Santiago’s primary, largest wholesale and retail produce market. Spanning several city blocks just north of the Mapocho River, it is the bustling heart of the city’s food supply.
