Cotopaxi is the highest active volcano in Ecuador
It is located at two hours from the city of Quito. It is within the same name National Park.
To be in 4500 meters above sea level means We can have rain, snow, wind or sun in a variation of 5 minutes. I always suggest you to walk like a baby step by step because it helps to acclimate our body . To be in mountains is a great experience you will feel the power of the nature.

We have to register our names before entering the National Park . We will pick up a local tour guide, it is mandatory for foreigners.
Walking tour to the refuge
We can walk to get to the refuge on 4864 meters above sea level. It can take 40 minutes. We have to walk very slow like a baby.
Limpiopungo lake
It is a place to take pictures and if your are good walkers to do a trekking around it.

Tour Important Information
• We never know how the weather will be during the day. Normally When we are in rain season volcano could be cloudy and see nothing .
• Bring jacket, gloves, glasses and everything to be in a extreme climate.
• This tour involves some of walking ( 2 hours ) , so make sure to wear comfortable shoes. I suggest you to wear trekking shoes
• Several places we will visit do not accept credit cards, so please bring cash.
• To walk up to the refuge or around the lake your can bring trekking poles.
• Use sun screen block all the time.
• Wear hiking boots.
• If you need to be picked up or dropped off out of Quito let me know before booking the tour.

“Historical tour of Quito”
Gustavo arrived on time at our Airbnb. We were interested in using the Metro to get around and he accommodated our request. He was very friendly, informative and knowledgeable. We took the Teleferi cable car and he always checked in with us to make sure we were feeling ok at 4000 meters. We never felt rushed. When visiting the churches I had many questions and he was able to answer all my inquiries. I tried to stump him but he always had an answer. You could tell he was passionate about his work and country. I would definitely do another tour with him.
