Upon arrival at Jinka Airport, our team warmly welcomes you to begin your journey into the cultural heart of the South Omo Valley.

For travelers arriving on the early morning flight (Monday or Wednesday), the journey begins with a drive into Mago National Park to visit the famous Mursi tribe. The Mursi are internationally known for their striking lip plates worn by women and the intricate scarification practiced by both men and women.

After this unforgettable encounter, return to Jinka for lunch before continuing to Yet Neberesh, a welcoming Ari village surrounded by lush highland scenery. The Ari people are known for their agricultural lifestyle, pottery making, blacksmithing, and warm hospitality.

For guests arriving on afternoon flights, the afternoon is dedicated to visiting the Ari village and exploring the colorful local market where women sell handmade pottery, woven baskets, spices, and fresh coffee beans. You may also visit local homes to experience the preparation of traditional honey wine (tej).

Overnight: Eco Omo Lodge, Jinka

Travel Distance: 228 km (~4hours)

After breakfast, depart Jinka and journey south through the breathtaking landscapes of the Omo Valley.

If the Mursi visit was not completed on Day 1, drive into Mago National Park this morning before continuing toward Turmi.

Along the route, visit one of the colorful weekly tribal markets depending on the day:

* Key Afer (Thursday) – Ari, Benna and Tsemay communities

* Alduba (Tuesday) – Traditional cattle market

* Dimeka (Saturday) – Famous Hamer tribal market

Arrive in Turmi, homeland of the Hamer people. The Hamer are renowned for their elaborate hairstyles, colorful beadwork, and the spectacular Bull Jumping Ceremony, one of Ethiopia’s most fascinating cultural traditions.

Travel Distance: 240 km (~2–3 hours)

Highlights: Karo tribe, Korcho Village, Omo River, traditional wooden canoe crossing, Dassanech tribe, spectacular river scenery

After breakfast, drive to Korcho Village, home of the Karo tribe, the smallest ethnic group in the Omo Valley. The Karo are famous for their extraordinary body painting using natural white chalk, red ochre, and charcoal, creating some of the most impressive cultural artwork in Africa. Their village sits on a dramatic cliff overlooking the Omo River, offering breathtaking views and excellent photography opportunities.

After visiting the Karo, return to Turmi for lunch before continuing south to Omorate. Cross the Omo River aboard a traditional wooden canoe to visit the Dassanech tribe, pastoralists who live near the Ethiopian-Kenyan border and are known for their resilient way of life and unique cultural traditions.

Return to Turmi in the late afternoon.

After breakfast, leave Turmi and travel west to visit the Arbore tribe, one of the lesser-visited communities of the Omo Valley. The Arbore people are known for their beautifully decorated homes, colorful beadwork, distinctive hairstyles, and semi-nomadic pastoral lifestyle. Enjoy an authentic cultural experience while learning about their customs and daily life.

Continue to Konso, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where you’ll explore its remarkable stone-walled terraces, traditional villages, and the famous carved wooden ancestral statues known as Waka. Discover how the Konso people have sustainably farmed these rugged hillsides for centuries.

Overnight: Kanta Lodge, Konso

Travel Distance: 90 km (~2 hours)

Highlights: Lake Chamo boat cruise, giant Nile crocodiles, hippos, abundant birdlife, Arba Minch, scenic Great Rift Valley landscapes

After breakfast, depart Konso and drive to Arba Minch, one of southern Ethiopia’s most scenic towns. Enjoy an unforgettable boat cruise on Lake Chamo, home to Africa’s largest Nile crocodiles, large pods of hippos, and an incredible variety of water birds, including African fish eagles, kingfishers, pelicans, and herons. Surrounded by spectacular Rift Valley scenery, this wildlife experience provides the perfect finale to your Omo Valley adventure.

After the cruise, transfer to Arba Minch Airport for your scheduled flight back to Addis Ababa, bringing your unforgettable cultural journey through southern Ethiopia to a memorable conclusion.
