The unique Art Nouveau of Budapest
This tour is ideal for architecture lovers, but also for those who like taking photos of interesting, colorful buildings. From an hidden gem to another, this tour provides an overview of Art Nouveau style architecture in Budapest. We will start from a leafy neighbourhood in Buda, where we will see the spectactular Gellért Baths, the Artists' House (a real gem!), and samples of folk architecture. A streetcar ride will lead us to Pest, where the style found a fertile ground in the early 1900s.

Get ready to look up, and see one of the most original examples of Art Nouveau in this area. A huge mosaic on the top this former bank building, makes a pretty square simply unforgettable
Váci Street
The main street of the downtown, is full overlooked treasures. The main being the Thonet House by Lechner. A peek inside a decorated flower store is also a must, for its style, and forniture
Vörösmarty Square
A different perspective of this main square, a patchwork of interesting buildings!
Nador Square fountains
Two fountains by the main ceramic makers in Hungary decorate this vast square with Art Nouveau, and Art Deco facades
Gresham Palace (Four Seasons Hotel)
Its rich history, and its even richer design, makes this building a real treat. The facade might remind you of Barcelona, and the interiors are a masterpiece of Hungarian Art Nouveau.
Liberty Square
The old Stock Exchange building blends Art Nouveau with many other styles, while the Adria Palace uses the sea as main inspiration in this square crowded with historical landmarks that I will be happy to highlight
House of Art Nouveau
The masterpiece of Hungarian architect Emil Vidor is almost an homage to Belgian Art Nouveau, but with a local twist
Aulich Street
Let's take a moment to admire the work of another local master: Körössy. This particular dwelling house is decorates with an Eden Garden of animals, and mythological figures, and topped by a mosaic of Eve with the apple tree
Treasury Building
Arguably the most impressive building in nowadays Budapest, this work of Ödön Lechner is topped by an incredible rooftop of colorful ceramics, and sybolic statues

- Mostly a walking tour, but we can use mass transport any time you want
- If you want a coffee break, I can bring you to the most appropriate cafés for the theme of this tour
- We will meet in front of the Gellert Hotel's entrance: it's the same building of the Baths, but a different side
- I can pick you up at your accomodation, if you prefer
In winter time, it's reccomend to take this tour during day time as many buildings are not lit up
