“Shinjuku Half Day Tour”
Grant is a wealth of information! We spent our first full day in Japan attempting to find our way around. What a difference it was to spend time exploring and navigating the area with Grant. He is extremely knowledgeable regarding all things Japanese. We loved his command of the language, his stories, viewpoints and history lessons. Being that he is from the US, his perspective was especially relatable. On a personal note, he walks quickly - as do I (my sweetie was forced to catch up!). He made the most of our time together and had an enormous impact on our deeper appreciation of this area, and greater Japan, given his vast knowledge and firsthand travel experiences throughout this country. We highly recommend booking time with Grant!! Thank you again Grant!! - Julie and Alan

“Amazing tour around Tokyo. ”
Grant is a great guy to spend time with. He has a deep knowledge of Japanese living and is a wonderful bridge between cultures. We spent two days together exploring gardens and especially bonsai areas. Grant was extremely helpful in allowing me to connect with the bonsai community in Japan. He helped me navigate the trains and buses which set me up for my next 2 weeks in Japan. I would recommend Grant as a guide to everyone. Thanks again Grant.
“Top Tier Custom Tour”
We were very fortunate to book Grant at the last minute to see the national museum, and the surrounding areas. Grant (fluently bilingual in Japanese and English(!)) is extremely knowledgeable on Japan's history, art, whisky, good food, and was able to explain many cultural concepts we didn't understand before we met him. We went from knowing virtually nothing, to having a solid grasp on the last few thousand years of Japanese history, brought to life as we saw artifacts and customs we experienced firsthand. Grant also knows a great deal on many topics that aren't strictly historical, helping us get settled with the basics we needed for the rest of our stay in Japan (we forgot power adapters and stationary). He even helped us find an art gallery we were looking for, and also was able to find a great place to eat, despite our difficult dietary restrictions. We look forward to returning to Tokyo and taking a different tour with Grant in the future! -Also, if you enjoy whisky, he really knows where the best places to go are.

(8 reviews)Thank you for the great review. I also really enjoyed this unique mission because the Ueno national history museum has artifacts from every era of Japanese history and there is plenty to talk about. But I think what made this mission the most unique was tracking down original ukiyoe woodblock prints signed by the artist. We got experience Japanese art history first hand.
