See Malta's Iconic Blue Grotto, Mdina and Mosta Dome - plus enjoy a small taste of tradition
Discover three of Malta's most iconic sights in just half a day. Gaze over the sparling waters of the Blue Grotto, wander the medieval streets of Mdina, the Silent city, and marvel at the majestic Mosta Dome with its famous Rotunda - the third largest unsupported dome in the world plus a small sampling of Maltese sweet delicacies.

Meeting Point
City Gate, Valletta
- Just outside the main entrance of Valletta, at the beginning of the bridge that traverses the dry moat.
Blue Grotto
Scenic stop overlooking the famous sea caverns. Optional: short boat trip (weather permitting, ~25 min) - €10 per person.
One of Malta’s most photographed natural landmarks. The limestone cliffs and sea caves reflect the sunlight, making the water glow with intense shades of blue and turquoise. Weather permitting we can do an optional 20-minute boat ride to see the grotto up close. Best visited in the morning when the light is at its most dramatic.
Mdina - The Silent City
Explore the Silent City: Cathedral Square, bastions, and medieval alleys.
Known as the “Silent City”, Mdina was Malta’s capital for centuries. Its narrow medieval streets, palaces, and bastions create an atmosphere that has hardly changed in 1,000 years. Highlights include Cathedral Square, the bastion views stretching across the island, and the elegant facades of noble residences. The silence and timelessness make Mdina one of Malta’s most enchanting stops.
Time permitting we can make a stop at Fontanella Tea Garden. Situated on the bastions, Fontanella Tea Garden is famous for its panoramic views over Malta and beyond to Gozo on a clear day. Their menu includes light dishes, but the highlight is their homemade cakes — especially the legendary chocolate cake. A relaxed and scenic setting for a coffee break.
Mosta Dome
Admire the third-largest unsupported dome in the world and hear the WWII “miracle bomb” story.
Formally the Rotunda of the Assumption, this church has one of the largest unsupported domes in the world. During WWII, a 500kg bomb pierced the dome during Mass but miraculously failed to explode — a story that has become part of Maltese collective memory. The interior is beautifully decorated, and visitors are often astonished by the scale of the dome. (Admission €3 per person).
We will make a final stop at the adjoining traditional Maltese café to taste Maltese sweet delicacies - such as the delicious nougat and honey rings

Tour Important Information
This tour involves some walking. It is best to wear comfortable shoes. Malta's sunshine is bright and hot most of the year so a pair of sunglasses and a hat are strongly recommended.
The boat trip at the Blue Grotto is recommended - however the boats do not run when the sea is rough. In which case we will make a scenic photo stop at the belvedere overlooking the Grotto. A short coffee break at one of the pleasant cafes is also a possibility.
You may change the starting point to any location in Malta which is more convenient for you.

About Tour Guide Martin F.
I’m Martin, a fully licensed Maltese tour guide with a lifelong passion for tourism. Over the years, I’ve worked across every facet of the industry—from hotel management to overseeing operations for a leading tourism management company.
I have hosted tour operators, travel agents, and key decision-makers visiting Malta for the first time. My role was to showcase the island's potential and convince them to include Malta as one of their main destinations. I didn’t just plan itineraries—I crafted unforgettable experiences. From cultural and historical highlights to seaside charm, vibrant nightlife, and hidden village gems, I ensured every guest experienced Malta at its most vivid and welcoming.
My career also took me beyond Malta. I’ve managed tourism operations in destinations such as the Azores, Sicily, Dubai, Oman, and the Canary Islands—broadening my perspective and deepening my expertise in destination management.
As a guide, I bring more than just facts. I bring context. I know Malta’s history and its role within the broader story of European events. I know the island’s rhythms, its culture and traditions, and where to find the best cafés, restaurants, and tucked-away treasures. Whether it’s arranging access to the top of a church belfry, exploring closed-off sections of Valletta’s fortifications, or enjoying the peaceful pace of an off-the-map village, I can create experiences that go far beyond the ordinary.

Malta’s Mysterious Megalithic Temples DECODED
As Ice Age glaciers receded, a mysterious culture emerged in Malta, launching an era of megalithic temple building. Despite the Mediterranean Copper Age, no copper tools were found here, raising questions about their advanced architecture. This tour explores the spiritual world of these builders, rooted in earth-based goddess worship, and how their beliefs still echo in Mediterranean traditions and inspired works such as Dan Brown’s novels and Erich von Däniken's speculative documentaries.
