Rotterdam is full of street art. From classic graffiti to street installations, from huge murals to tiny mosaics, Rotterdam has it all. Not only is there room for faceless hooligans, but also "the great and terrible" Picasso. Street art is a terrific storyteller, and it will present us with the most amazing, touching, and fascinating stories that no one else knows about. We invite you to immerse yourself in this fascinating world!

Meeting Point
Rotterdam Central Train Station, 3013 AP Rotterdam
Rotterdam Centraal Station
Rotterdam Centraal Station is one of the main architectural sightseeing of the city! We'll start our journey at the train station. From there, we will turn to a real hip-hop neighbourhood where we will meet local creators and the Brazilian masters of the genre.
Mural by Joren Joshua
Rotterdam street art is a great tool to discover the character of Rotterdammers and what they are all about. And this lovely piece by Joren Joshua does an excellent job. While Rotterdam is an extremely open-minded and welcoming city its roots lie in its port. And sea-port is not a place for rookies. Joren Joshua combines the lightheartedness of the contemporary city with its roots and no-nonsense mentality.
Zebra by Herman Lamers
Don’t look up unless you do not want to notice a real zebra sitting in the nest. You heard me right. Herman Lamers is a contemporary artist that likes playful and interactive work in public. Where did this zebra come from? Why is it in the nest? Come and find out!
Santa Claus aka “The Buttplug Gnome” by Paul McCarthy
Probably the most famous statue in Rotterdam and definitely the one to cause the most giggles and shy smiles. A symbol of the holiday's spirit holding an obviously phallic object in his hand (also known as a Christmas tree) to this day provokes a lot of debates and has a long history in Rotterdam. A must-see object - zero doubt.
De Witte Aap
Will You Marry Me? by Tymon de Laat Street art evokes and expresses many emotions. Sometimes it can do it literally. Will You Marry Me? Is both a very strong piece of art and the most creative marriage proposal in Rotterdam. Tymon de Laat managed to weave in a lot of references to his (spoiler alert) wife, however, to a regular passing by it is yet another fantastic work by the master.
Beeldenroute Westersingel
Sylvette by Pablo Picasso. While you may think public sculptures are not street art I would like to disagree. It is art, and it is on the street. Therefore it would be a crime not to include Pablo Picasso’s giant stone sculpture of the muse that has inspired him for many years. Weirdly shaped and yet astonishingly beautiful it is there for all Rotterdammers to see.
Schiedamse Vest 148
Our tour ends not far from Rotterdam Harbour. We will discuss how street art fits into Rotterdam's urban landscape and how locals interact with it. And, of course, we'll have a coffee or a beer somewhere special, and we will suggest many other places you can visit after the tour (both in the afternoon and in the evening).

* This is an individual walking tour. For that reason we won't only tell you about the history of the Netherlands, the national character and the modern life of this city. We will talk about the subjects that first of all interest you, be it the exciting tales of the past, or the Dutch economy, or the educational system and fascinating innovative projects.
* This tour is conducted by a team of guides (Anastasia, Sasha, Anna, Kate, Olga, Hanna).
My tours were born from my passion for traveling and studying other cultures, from my avid late-night reading, and from meeting amazing, bright, and talented people from around the world. And, of course, it sprouted from my love for storytelling :). Now, there are 10 of us - guides in the Netherlands, Belgium, Serbia, Hungary, and Morocco. We are historians, designers, physicists, journalists, sociologists, and art historians. I am thrilled to share my knowledge and show you these fabulous and hidden places from a tourist's perspective. My team would be delighted to accompany you on this adventure full of unexpected discoveries as we travel through the centuries and immerse ourselves in the local culture!

Half-Day Private Guided Sightseeing Tour of Zaanse Schans
“Beautiful Day at Zaanse Schans”
We were lucky to have sunshine on the day we visited Zaanse Schans. Our guide Marie's smile is as bright as the sunshine. She is patient and caring, sharing with us stories of the windmills and brought us to the cheese and chocolate places. The drinks at the cafe are lovely. We also enjoyed the special area she showed us at Amsterdam Ctrl Train Station.
