Guided tour of Auschwitz I and Auschwitz II-Birkenau

A guided tour of Auschwitz I and Auschwitz II-Birkenau with a licensed educator from the Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum (approx. 3 hours 45 minutes) provides a comprehensive and deeply moving insight into one of the most significant sites of World War II.

The visit begins at Auschwitz I, the former main camp, where you will see original prison blocks, exhibitions, and key locations that illustrate the history of the camp and the experiences of its prisoners.

You will then continue to Auschwitz II-Birkenau, the largest part of the complex, where you will explore the vast camp grounds, including the remains of barracks, railway tracks, and extermination facilities.

Throughout the tour, your guide will provide detailed historical context, helping you understand both the scale of the site and the human stories behind it.

Visit to the Judenrampe

A visit to the Judenrampe offers a powerful and often overlooked perspective on the history of the Auschwitz complex.

Located between Auschwitz I and Auschwitz II-Birkenau, this railway ramp was the original arrival point for thousands of deportees brought from across occupied Europe—primarily Jews. It was here that selections took place, families were separated, and individuals were sent either to forced labor or to immediate death in Birkenau.

Unlike the more commonly visited areas, Judenrampe remains a quieter, more reflective site, helping visitors better understand the first moments of arrival and the human tragedy that unfolded there. Today, the restored tracks and original freight wagons serve as a stark reminder of these events.

Monowitz (Auschwitz III)

A visit to the Monowitz (Auschwitz III) provides a deeper understanding of the industrial dimension of the Nazi camp system.

Part of the complex known as Auschwitz concentration camp complex—which also included Auschwitz I and Auschwitz II-Birkenau—Monowitz functioned primarily as a forced labor camp. Prisoners were exploited as slave labor for nearby industrial facilities, most notably the Buna-Werke synthetic rubber factory.

Today, although much of the original camp no longer exists, the site remains an important place of remembrance, helping visitors grasp the full scale and complexity of Auschwitz as both a concentration and extermination system.
