Meeting Point

Father Bernatek's Footbridge/ Kładka Ojca Bernatka

- The Father Bernatek Footbridge is a striking steel arch bridge over the Vistula River in Kraków, connecting Kazimierz with Podgórze along the path of the former Podgórski Bridge. Famous for its swinging sculptures by Jerzy Kędziora, it features separate pedestrian and cyclist paths and serves as a lively gateway between the districts of Kazimierz and Podgórze.

Podgórze Main Square

Podgórski Market Square is the historic heart of Kraków’s Podgórze district, laid out in 1785 at the crossroads of ancient trade routes. On your visit, admire the striking St. Joseph Church and glimpse the former Madritsch factory tied to the area’s World War II past.

Zucker's Synagogue

Also known as the House of Hasidic Learning, is located at Węgierska Street was the only synagogue in the Gettho built prior to it's establishment, playing a crucial role in religious life behind the walls that separated those doomed from those less unfortunate.

Optima Chocolate Factory

The Optima Chocolate Factory in Kraków’s Podgórze district holds a haunting place in history. Originally a chocolate factory, its back rooms once served as a prayer space for the nearby Zucker Synagogue, but in May 1942 it became the site of one of the most tragic deportations from the Podgórze Ghetto during World War II.

Ghetto Walls

The remnants of the Podgórze Ghetto walls along Lwowska Street are a silent witness to a dark chapter of Kraków’s history. These surviving fragments mark the boundaries of the ghetto, preserving the memory of the Jewish community that was forcibly confined here during World War II.

Ending Point
