I was born and raised in Vienna, however traveling, foreign countries and foreign languages have always been my passion. Therefore I studied languages, became a teacher for several years and finally made traveling my main occupation. After traveling in Europe for several years, I became a licensed tourist guide in Austria. I wanted to meet people from other countries in my hometown and show them its glorious past, wonderful pastry shops and tell them quirky details about members of the Imperial family. Vienna has a very obvious, beautiful side along the Ringstrasse, but also more hidden back streets, small alleys, courtyards and lots of less well-known stories. Vienna was once the capital city of a huge empire, nowadays it is the capital city of a small country. The glorious past is still visible, but there is also modern day Vienna that offers a good quality of life and many green spaces, especially in the old town. A large number of places worth seeing can be reached during a walking tour. Palaces, passion, art, music. . you name it and we will experience it together.

Hello! I’m Martin, a local guide from Eastern Austria / Vienna, officially licensed, highly experienced, and still genuinely excited about showing people around Central Europe. I speak English and German, and I can confidently order food in a few other languages — which, as you’ll soon discover, is a very important skill given my specialization in food and wine tours. From elegant Viennese classics to regional surprises, I firmly believe history tastes better when paired with the right dish and a good glass of wine. Over the years, my guests and I have explored Central Europe using just about every mode of transport imaginable. We’ve traveled by modern cars, vintage vehicles, vans, buses, electric trains, diesel trains, steam trains, and even trains with cogwheels. On water, we’ve used large river cruise ships, speed boats, kayaks, and pedal boats — sometimes gracefully, sometimes enthusiastically. On land, we’ve gone even further: horses, donkeys, alpacas… and yes, once even a tank. (No worries — it was for sightseeing, not invading.) My tours are informative but relaxed, well-organized but never stiff, and always adapted to what you enjoy most. Think of me less as a guide and more as a local friend who knows where to go, what to eat, what to drink, and how to get there — preferably in an interesting way. If you’re curious about Central Europe, love good food and wine, and enjoy travel stories that come with a sense of humor, I’d be happy to guide you. Welcome aboard — whatever we’re riding this time.

I have been a guide for over 12 years and only offer private tours in small groups and online zoom tours about different topics of Salzburg to English speaking travelers. Since you offer private tours and also online zoom tours it would be my great joy to work with you. Salzburg is a beautiful place that many travelers love to visit and learn more about it.

Servus and a warm hello from Vienna! I'm Maria—your passionate, state-certified Vienna Guide, solo entrepreneur, and proud powerhouse behind unforgettable Vienna experiences. My tours are all about authenticity, warmth, and personal connection. Think of them as more than just sightseeing—they're carefully crafted journeys through Vienna’s iconic landmarks and hidden corners, infused with charm, curiosity, and a touch of elegance. I blend the welcoming spirit of the countryside with the sophistication of the city, offering you a truly unique way to discover Austria’s capital. My story began with a degree in Tourism Management, taking me across Europe and eventually into the world of finance after studying European Economies. But my heart always belonged to history, art, culture, and most of all—people. That passion led me back to what I truly love. After an intensive two-year university program and passing the rigorous state exam, I proudly became a certified Austrian tour guide. Whether you're fascinated by history, drawn to fine art, or just love uncovering local secrets (and indulging in delicious bites along the way!), my personalized tours are designed to bring Vienna to life in ways that are engaging, insightful, and unforgettable. Let’s explore Vienna together—with curiosity, laughter, and a touch of magic.

The soul behind the scenes or: The core beyond your expectations Looking behind the scenes and telling stories has always been my passion. Growing up in Salzburg and the Salzkammergut region, I have loved finding out exciting things in the simplest of things since childhood and passing on what I have found out is actually an even greater one. What good is all that "useless knowledge" if you can't share it? 25 years as a production manager and researcher in film have made me sure that what's behind is more exciting than what you see in the first moment. My enthusiasm for the story at hand sometimes carries me away in such a way that I find it hard to let it fall into secrecy. And then the idea came up to turn all this knowledge and the desire to pass it on into something meaningful. From there it was not far to the training as a guide. Three years later and a few exams later I started to practice this profession and I realize that it is more and more fun to see how people get involved in what I am telling them. As a guide, I don't see myself as a data mediator, but rather as the one who brings the local attitude to life closer to his guests and makes it possible to experience it; this is not possible with pure numbers, data and facts, which are also important, but it is much more important for me to bring out the individual fates and their influences up to the present day. Of course, this may, no! - must sometimes come along with a mischievous wink, it is precisely the irony and humor that make up the actual "flavor" of things. Truth is too important a commodity to be sacrificed to pure objectivity, since it is never black and white and can usually only be found between the lines. I have always been searching for this truth and it is important to me to convey it.
