I've lived in Dublin city centre and its suburbs all my life, and the history of Dublin along with its stories continues to surprise me, even to someone who lives here. Since I've started giving guided tours I've found it to be a lot of fun, and very rewarding to see visitors really engage with the real Dublin City. These are the streets of countless struggles for freedom, laughter, pain, joy, as well as Bono, James Joyce, Oscar Wilde, Sinead O'Connor and Arthur Guinness. . . I get distracted with stories, so you might have to remind me from time to time!, and I like to make sure that anyone who books onto my tours have the best of times! As a long time musician, who's spent a lot of time with other Irish musicians, I've also got no shortage of insights into the heart of Irish music and folklore - it's a lovely world to occupy. I also have a very special relationship with Dublin's Ha'Penny Bridge, remind me to tell you about this, you won't find the answer on Google! Dublin is an old city, but it's not a museum, it's also a brand new city - this is the same throughout all of Ireland - and I enjoy showing visitors how these worlds live side by side, so you can have fun while enjoying the city at the same time!

Hi, I'm Caitlin - a native of Tipperary living and working in Dublin for the past 10 years. I am a historian and postdoctoral researcher based in Dublin offering tours of the city focusing on the modern period - approximately the last 250 years. My particular areas of interest are social history and the revolutionary period. I have over 10 years of experience working within the tourism industry, with experience creating and delivering tours at the Abbey Theatre, the National Museum of Ireland, the 1916 Walking Tour, and Glasnevin Cemetery, and as a freelance tour guide with companies such as Peter Somers Travel. I have curated exhibitions on Irish history and Irish life for Clerys and the National Archives of Ireland, and regularly present at conferences on Irish history. I completed my PhD in Public History at Trinity College, Dublin, where I studied how history was used to create different identities in the two Irish states after partition. I chose to study public history because I am really passionate about connecting the public with the history all around us and engaging them with it in their everyday life. I have been published in both popular and academic presses in Irish history, and am a regular contributor to podcasts, radio shows, and documentaries. I have been working as a cycling and walking tour guide in the Burren in County Clare for more than 20 years. My tours are immersive experiences, where we explore everything the location has to offer: history, archaeology, geology, folklore, flora and fauna. I am fully certified in First Aid, and have public liability insurance to cover cycling and walking tours. I am also a golfer, and a member of Lahinch Golf Club, so can advise on the best courses to play while you are in Ireland.
