About Tour Guide Mari Y.
Hello! I’m Mari.
I’ve lived in Ube, Yamaguchi for 26 years and worked as an English teacher at a local middle school.
I'm the proud grandmother of a 2-year-old girl and a 5-month-old boy.
My hobbies are traveling, walking, and playing tennis.
My love for travel was sparked by my homestay experiences in Scotland and California, USA.
Living outside Japan taught me so much, but what I cherish most about my homestays was the 'weekend small trips'. I fondly recall the picturesque Highlands and a B&B in Scotland, where a kind elderly couple welcomed me warmly.
During an overnight bus trip from California to Las Vegas, I was mesmerized by the breathtaking sunrise changing the sky brighter and brighter. Travel is special because of the small, soul-stirring moments. I love to travel and am happy to help others experience these wonderful moments too.
Maintaining my mental and physical health is also a significant interest of mine.
I’ve always liked playing tennis as this is a therapeutic sport for me and I can get so much stress
As a morning person, my favorite routine taking a stroll in my neighborhood and giving a prayer at the local shrine sunny or rainy.
I would love to show you around the relaxing local neighborhoods of Ube City!
Important
The days of the week may vary, but I can adjust my schedule for up to three days a week.

Yamaguchi city 4 hours tour
In the mid 14th century, the lord of this area, Hiroyo Ouuchi moved its capital from Hagi to Yamaguchi city, and began to rebuild the city imitating Kyoto. He was impressed by highly sophisticated culture of Kyoto. Since then, for 200 years, his descendants continued to construct Yamaguchi city to be like Kyoto. Historical places are very magnificent and fantastic, but not crowded like Kyoto. It’s peaceful and calm. You can feel really relaxed. Let’s explore this city and have a lot of fun!

“ A Perfectly Planned Day We’ll Never Forget”
No tour guide could have put in more effort to ensure my family had the perfect day. We traveled in from Hiroshima by bullet train with two elderly parents, and Mari thought through every detail to make the experience seamless and comfortable. She greeted us at the station, accompanied us on the local train, arranged taxis, and made sure we never had to worry about logistics for a single moment. The day itself was beautifully curated—everything from the delicious soba served on traditional roof tiles to a peaceful Japanese tea experience, foot bath, and a visit to the stunning five-story pagoda at Ruriko-ji, one of Japan’s most beautiful and historic landmarks. Her warmth, attentiveness, and thoughtful planning made this one of our favorite days in all of Japan. We felt truly cared for every step of the way. I cannot recommend Mari highly enough—she is exceptional

I truly grateful to Cindy and her family. Thanks to Cindy’s thoughtful communication through emails regarding itinerary and her parents health issues and their favorite places to go and the time limit, I could manage to make up a detailed travel plan. And her family is such a warm hearted people . Only talking with them makes me feel so happy and relieved. I didn’t feel I met them for the first time. Honestly speaking, this tour was my first tour as a tour guide. Thanks to them, I didn’t get nervous at all. I was very happy all the time. I am the one who should be thanking them! I really appreciate Cindy and her family. I wish their happiness for ever! Many thanks, Mari

I had worked for the Japan's biggest travel agency JTB (Japan Travel Bureau) for 35 years as a tour escort for Japanese. I visited 68 countries and of course all over Japan as well. So I’m familiar with almost all of the tourist attractions in Japan. More over I’m also a professional magician now. I’m a member magician of The Magic Castle in Hollywood in US. That's why I made a decision to become an English tour guide. I acquired a tour guide license issued by the Japanese government with a lot of hard work in 2016 and I started from the following year. I work as an English guide approximately 130 days a year. My wife is physically disabled, and I usually care for her. Every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, I receive home care and bathing services, so I am unable to go out during the day as I have to prepare for and clean up afterwards. I am available to guide on Sundays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. I can take up to four people sightseeing in my private car. I am available at any time during evening tours, such as YATAI tours. I look forward to hearing from you. Please ask me first. If it is possible.

Kahori M.
Hi, I'm Kahori, a nationally licensed guide interpreter, and have just started working with GoWithGuide! I’m delighted to show people around this area. For the past almost 10 years, I have mainly guided foreign medical professionals around Hiroshima City and Miyajima, gaining a deep understanding of the effects of radiation and the support for A-bomb survivors. Hiroshima is a city of rivers and the sea. Along the rivers Cherry trees line, and the calm Seto Inland Sea, dotted with islands, creates a stunning landscape. Also, the sea has many islands called "art islands" which have fantastic arts relating to the art festival "Setoushi Triennale". In addition to our two World Heritage Sites, this area is rich in attractive resources. I hope many of you will come and experience this fascinating land. Personally, I am very passionate about modern art and enjoy sports like stand-up paddle boarding (SUP) on our rivers. I look forward to meeting you, interacting with you, and also, learning from you!
