Taiwan’s first walled city and Kaohsiung’s most temple-packed district — Zuoying! This isn’t your grandma’s history tour — it’s a walk spiced with legends, snacks, and divine gossip. From *Zuoying (Jiucheng) Station*, we’ll loop around the dazzling *Lotus Pond*, stroll into a *dragon’s mouth* for luck, drop by the god’s grand “office,” whisper stories of the deities floating above the lake, and pass *Confucius’s old turf* before ending at the *ancient city gate*. Holy fun, zero boredom!

Meeting Point

Zuoying (Jiucheng) Train Station

- Meet me at **Zuoying (Jiucheng) Station** — that’s the *TRA local train station*, not the MRT or High-Speed Rail!

Lotus Pond

The named was earned in 17 century due to its number of lotus and the amora. It wasn't just a place for sighseeing, also a field for living. The fuction of the pond shifted in different era. Over time, temples bloomed along its shores, gods moved in, and the once-quiet water turned into Kaohsiung’s spiritual stage.

Dragon and Tiger Pagodas

The Dragon and Tiger Pagodas are one of Kaohsiung’s most iconic spots. Step into the dragon’s mouth, and you’ll see vivid scenes once used to teach children about filial piety, the rewards of good deeds, and the punishments of bad ones. Along the way, meet the students of Taiwan’s “Eastern Socrates” and the gods’ celestial army — a fascinating mix of art, legend!

Spring and Autumn Pavilions

The twin nine-story towers dedicated to the God from 3 different religons was built in 1951. A pavillion connected by green balconies and set on the water as reciption for the gods. The pond of turtles and the god of mercy in front is where we can learn the Taoism, Confucianism and Buddhism meet and mix in Taiwan.

The oldest school in Kaohsiung

Founded during the Qing Dynasty, it has witnessed over a century of local history and education. And still it's a living history class for us to enjoy.

Ending Point

Gongchen Gate(North gate)

About Tour Guide Lesley H.

As a Taiwan native, I’m eager to share my hometown with the world. Once known mainly as an Semiconductor hub, Taiwan also holds a rich cultural history and diverse food scene. Guiding lets me show visitors the city’s transformation, its hidden stories, and the local flavors I grew up with—so you can experience Taiwan not just as travelers, but through the eyes of someone who calls it home.
