Popular New York Tour Guides

Dave G.

United States of America (USA)

I am a New York City tour guide and have been doing bus tours for 14 years and walking tours for eight. I can easily do a standard tour on, say, Central Park, Greenwich Village, or the World Trade Center but I offer a general tour with many popular places in New York. I also have my own niche tour of "Titanic Sites in New York City". I like tour-guiding in the city because I am also a tourist and I like to feel the vicarious thrill of visitors. Being a tour-guide AND a tourist, I have traveled to Nova Scotia, Boston, Chicago, Philadelphia, Los Angeles, Anchorage, Cleveland, Niagara Falls, Washington DC, London, Liverpool, Belfast, Bangkok, Singapore, Philippines, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka, Fukuoka, Yokohama, Nara, Mt. Kosaya, Mt. Fuji and many other places.

I fell in love with New York the moment I set foot here. It's been over 30 years now. I love this city so much that I became an NYC tour guide. I enjoy showing people different faces of NYC - from the bustling city of skyscrapers to the quiet streets of out-of-the-tourists-way neighborhoods. I love telling stories of people who made New York what is it - the self-made millionaires, famous writers, daring architects, beautiful and powerful women. I can show you major landmarks as well as secret spots and cozy old bars where you can feel NYC history. I can take you to places where sounds of jazz rule the night and people swing-dance - a dance which was born in Harlem, NY, and had swept the world with its infectious joy. I'm a licensed sightseeing guide with many years of experience. I'm truly fascinated with the unique history of New York City and love to share my passion for it. I've studied History of Art at Harvard Extension School (Cambridge, Mass) and New School (NYC) and took classes on NYC Architectural History at Cooper Union (NYC).

My name is Adam, and I’m a licensed tour guide here in New York City. With so many places to visit and an extensive subway system, New York City can feel overwhelming. There's nothing I love more than helping someone feel at ease and have a great experience exploring the amazing areas of New York. I offer private and fun full- and half-day neighborhood walking tours for families and small groups. With every tour, I aim to help people learn to navigate around town, hear great stories, capture wonderful photos, laugh a lot, and make amazing memories together. I am passionate, energetic, quick-witted, and love making people say "wow" at all the sites. I'm originally from Orlando, FL, but have lived in numerous places, including San Francisco, Atlanta, and even Sydney, Australia. Prior to becoming a guide, I worked for years helping well-respected non-profit organizations tell their stories and raise funds to support their critical work. For the past 10 years, my wife and I have called New York City home. We absolutely love living here and are always out exploring the city. It'll be an amazing day out in the city for you and your traveling companions. I can't wait to meet you.

Call me Jen or Jennifer! For over 10 years, NYC guiding is my side hustle. While it's not uncommon for locals to have side hustles, little did I know that my love of NYC would change me on a cellular level. Number one rule is no stress, no pressure. We are a team and we work together. Big picture thinking is my goal. We will love New York City while loving each other. It's that simple. While many of my guiding years have been by foot, I am an experienced bike and bus guide too----Don't worry, I am not the driver! To walk NYC is to understand it best; soaking up its unexpected serendipity!

Jonathan G.

United States of America (USA)

Hello there! I am Jonathan and I'm so excited to share my New York City with you! I have family roots in New York City stretching back over a hundred years, mirroring the classic immigrant experience from Ellis Island to the Lower East Side. This background has inspired an ongoing quest for the best of the city past and present, from the suspension cables of the Brooklyn Bridge to the hot pastrami at Katz’s deli. I moved from the depths of Jersey to Manhattan’s Morningside Heights at 18 for college and have since split his time between Tel Aviv and New York City. I studied American History at Columbia University under Kenneth Jackson, one of the all time great historians of New York City. After college I worked in finance before heading back to school in Israel to study for an MA in Archeology from Bar Ilan University. I currently guide tours in both New York and Israel, depending on the season. I love exploring the city’s history, from the footprints of George Washington to Malcolm X, and discovering hidden gems from the best pizza slice to the coolest dive bar. New York City is an endless playground of culture, history, and energy where every day seems to yield a new adventure.

Hello! Welcome to my page and hopefully soon, New York! I am a born and bred NY Native, having grown up in Manhattan on the Upper West Side. The city, its people, food, neighborhoods, rich diverse history, cutting edge innovation, storied nightlife and world-renowned cultural treasures were my playground and classroom; and I am so grateful to have had this teacher. After University, I lived for three years in London and Paris - and then returned to my home town where I have been enjoying my work in Tourism and Hospitality ever since. I’ve been a professional guide for many years working for companies like Tui, Globus and Disney. I have lead groups, both large and small, that include students, adults, business professionals, and retirees from the U.S. and abroad. I love taking guests around my beautiful city, and re-discovering its majesty and wonder with visitors - this is truly a privilege. I excel at private tours and in sharing the magical experiences that can only be found in this dynamic and daunting city. Together, we will unlock it's secrets and discover why NYC, the star of so many memorable movies and novels, is such a beloved, romantic and exciting city. What do I do in my spare time? I write, act, garden and hike. I teach kids financial literacy in an after school enrichment program. I walk my wonderful dog in Brooklyn Bridge Park and I take advantage of the world-class museums and restaurants this great city has to offer. If you wish, I would be happy to work together and plan your perfect itinerary with a customized experience - or you may choose from one or more of my predesignated tour options.

My experience as a NYC tour guide spans the better part of a decade and has helped cement my reputation as one of the most sought-after tour guides in town. Indeed, I have had the honor of being named one of New York’s top tour guides. My exuberance, theatricality, passion and extensive knowledge of the city's history speaks for itself. I have a lifetime of exposure to the art of storytelling as a professional ballet dancer, actor and musician and I continue to grow in my abilities. You see, I am New York. My great-grandfather was the architect and musician to the King of Norway. His journey impressed me. My father was a prince of his tribe in Nigeria. His journey inspired me. My Grandmother was first generation Irish American. Her journey motivates me. And her parent's legacy begins a trail on Ellis Island. They all have a story to tell that lives through me. My fascination with immigration has been, in turn, the discovery of myself AND New York. As a true amalgamation of ethnicity, I am New York and my story, albeit specific, generically lives in the American dream. So what is it about New York? In discovering my own family history, I discovered the answer and it lies deep beneath the surface of the city, within the heart.

Because I enjoy showing people around the beautiful island of Oahu I started my company doing luxury convertible tours on Oahu, Hawaii 9 years ago. I use a unique customized four door convertible that has plenty of room for 4 passengers plus driver with easy in and out access for all. Having been in and out of Hawaii for 30 years and permanent for 12 years I am very knowledgeable of places to take clients based on their interest so all tours are customized and private.

I am a tour guide in Salem, MA where accused witches were executed in 1692. We are a very popular tourist spot. I presently do tours in the witchcraft history as well as maritime, revolutionary history and ghost tours. I am a local actor and have a great personality to do the tours. I am well versed in history and have been doing this for 10 years.

I'm a long-time Boston resident with a passion for Boston history and exploring the city on foot. I've lived in Boston ever since moving here for college 16 years ago and immediately falling in love with the city. I'm currently a North End resident, but in the past I have lived in over 20 different apartments across most of Boston's neighborhoods. I can take tourists off the beaten path in any part of Boston and show the area through the eyes of a local. I worked for Boston City Hall for many years, running the city's first ever Data Engineering team. My team created Boston's city-wide data warehouse, bringing analytics and automation to the city. Listen to hilarious stories about the inner workings (or lack thereof) of a city government from an (ex) city employee and an active long time resident. I started giving tours of Boston this summer after quitting my regular 9-5 job and I love it! I'm an experienced traveler who has taken many tours around the world and I would like to give that back to the tourists who visit the city I call home. I'm passionate, funny, and full of quirky historical knowledge about Boston. Ask me about any statue or cool building that you see as we pass it, chances are I know something about it! I love good food and a nice cold beer, and know where to find the best lobster roll and chowder in Boston. I have been enthusiastically eating and drinking my way through the area for over a decade and can recommend a place to try any cuisine that comes to your mind! I love giving visitors an inside scoop on the hidden gems of the city, food, history, culture, and entertainment. In my spare time I spend my time playing video games, reading, camping, and traveling. I enjoy discovering new restaurants and hidden areas of Boston, adding new material to my extensive catalog of knowledge about the city.

As a Boston tour guide, I have the added experience of being a world traveler. For many years, I frequently visited Europe, Asia, and Latin America on business. During this time, I also organized tours of the USA, Europe and Asia for my business clients. I now bring this passion, excitement and expertise to the Boston area. By exploring the globe, I was exposed to various cultures, and this unique perspective has taught me what appeals to people when visiting a new part of the country or a new part of the world. My fluency in English and Turkish, and my advanced skills in Spanish and intermediate skills in French, also help me to service a wider range of tourists and business people. I moved to Boston, Massachusetts several years ago, and I now reside in Brookline. I have three children, so I develop my tours to accommodate families with kids, couples, and individuals who want to visit and learn about the rich history and culture of Boston. As a parent, I know that Boston is a great place for higher education, and I have knowledge of the colleges and universities in the area. I customize my tours to suit the needs and preferences of my customers. Whether you want a walking tour, a driving tour, or a little of both, I can create an itinerary that showcases the best of what Boston has to offer. My one day tours are educational and entertaining, and include the history, culture, personalities, architecture and, even the shopping areas of this renowned city. At the end of the tour, you will be happy and satisfied when you realize you've seen so much in just a short time. I am here to share my knowledge of Boston and Cambridge with you, and help you to enjoy your visit so you can explore the must-see parts of this great city. I look forward to meeting you and guiding you around the city, so please send me a message if you have any questions. Thank you for reading.

Popular Salt Lake City Tour Guides

Kevin E.

United States of America (USA)

Hello! My name is Kevin. I was born and raised in Texas and have lived in Utah off and on for seven years. I've lived in four countries, including China, Australia, and Hungary, and experienced many other amazing places around the world. I love getting a glimpse into the culture and history of places I visit through their architecture, art, beliefs, and people. Traveling has helped me better understand the value of a great tour guide, something I’ve worked hard to become. I've been blessed (or cursed) with a knack for remembering interesting facts and details. I channel this experience and information into my tours, so that my guests get more than a basic tour. By giving tours, I'm helping people expand their understanding and appreciation of diverse ideas to help make the world a better place. Although a native Texan, my roots go deep in Utah, six generations back, to the pioneers who settled here in the mid-19th century. It is a beautiful and fascinating place. Utah should definitely be on your list of places to visit, not just for its natural wonders but also for its history. Despite being raised on stories of the pioneers, I didn't fall in love with the history, places, and stories of Utah until I lived in downtown Salt Lake City as a young college student. That's when I began to explore the city's streets and neighborhoods, which led to an appreciation of the historic architecture and stories of people who helped make Utah what it is today. And, I began to learn how my own ancestors fit in to the fabric of Utah's story. Utah has changed a lot since my ancestors moved here, growing from frontier settlements founded under the direction of a prophet to a tech hub drawing talent from around the globe to live within easy reach of outdoor recreation. I’d love to share the stories of the people and places that have impacted Utah with you on a tour of Salt Lake City or other nearby attractions. I am a member of the Utah Tour Guide Association, currently serving as president.

Not impressed

First of all, Mike was 10 minutes late for a 2-he tour. I had to call him to make sure he was coming. Secondly, we booked and paid for a private tour ‘only you and your group’. We chose this very purposefully. It is our preference. Imagine our surprise when the reason he was late was that he was picking up 2 more people. To be clear, the other couple were lovely. But not the point. Private does not include another couple. The tour itself was fine. I did not need to hear about the parties that he attends and how much they cost. We wanted the history. Not the present day. Then at the end of the tour, Mike puts the 4 of us in his vehicle in the heat of the day (not turned on), while he talks to someone. If you are looking for someone who name drops, talks about the prestigious parties and how much they cost, stops what he is saying and talks to other people outside the not-so-private tour, Mike is your guy. We book private tours all over the world when we travel. We love the personalization and are happy to pay extra. This was not at all what we ordered, messaged about and paid for. We are very disappointed.

Mike F.

Obviously I'm very disappointed to see this revie. That said, everything included in my offering was included in this tour. As this person said the tour was "fine". It's important to understand that in my tour, amongst many other things I speak about what it's like to live here today and today we have some wonderful and generous people that raise money by entertaining. Much of this is done to support our preservation movement They do magnificent work and it's surprising to me that someone would be offended by hearing about it. Also, as a 25 year resident of this neighborhood I run into friends and neighbors during my tour and it would be considered rude to not acknowledge them as we pass. Again, it's surprising to me that someone would find that offensive. Finally, this is a beautiful wonderful city and it's my mission to help everyone understand how special it is. If anyone is unhappy with my tour for any reason I would absolutely support a refund.

Fun ride and great way to see the volcano!

Byron was punctual and his equipment was in excellent shape. Byron’s knowledge of volcano’s and the park were fascinating! Riding Fat Tire e-bikes was an awesome experience and took a lot of the work out of biking thru changing elevations and made the adventure a lot more fun! Would recommend this to anyone who wants to learn and experience the park in nature. It rained torrentially and we got soaked but, gotta say we still had fun!

Todd! You and Julie were troopers! We did have a rainy day! But still had fun! Thanks for making my experience so meaningful! You are both amazing people and I hope our paths cross again soon!

A perfect customized tour!

We are the 3rd timer in Oahu and this time we wanted to do something outside of Waikiki. Patrick perfectly made our dream come true, including finishing up my personal small errands on the way. He's truely flexible with relaxing mood, regardless of the fact that we squeezed sudden several different requests into itinerary just 2 days before the tour date. He attended us in a professional way with big smile, and gave us good inspiration with genre-less world topics in his luxury van all through the driveway. We learned USA from a new point of view. We can promise most of kids travelers won't get car sick in his car like our kids (who often feel like vomiting in an ordinary car. They actually had naps and naps peacefully thanks to his gentle and safe drive, also thaks to high spec of his car) . We felt aloha sprit from the way he is. It sums up "High recommendation for any future traveler to Oahu". He can take you everywhere with background episode, local gourmet stops, and photo shooting spots !

Local Tour Guides in the United States

The United States has many places to see, and everyone traveling is on a limited schedule. So being in the company of a local guide is the best way to get the most out of every hour you will spend in the United States. Rather than trudging along through the city together with one of the many mass tourist groups, let a local specialist help you enjoy every minute! Our guides are of course masters of all the famous sightseeing spots such as Wall Street or Hollywood, but they also know their area on a deeper level, and can help you connect and experience the United States in a much more personal way. Your guide is always willing to help you customize your tour in a way that you do all you wanted to, and also avoid tourist traps or time wasters. So find your favorite guide and send them a message, that will be the start of your wonderful journey to the USA!
