Tour Highlights & Overview:

Welcome to an epic journey into the rugged mountains of Vayots Dzor! This private tour combines military medieval history, spiritual heritage, and an exhilarating mountain hike with panoramic views of the Yeghegis Gorge.

Our adventure features Smbataberd, one of Armenia’s largest and most impregnable medieval fortresses, standing proudly on a mountain ridge at 1,930 meters above sea level. From there, we will continue our trek toward the isolated 10th-century Tsakhats Kar Monastic Complex, located at 2,080 meters above sea level, famous for its unique stone bas-reliefs and untouched nature.

As a certified professional mountain rescuer (First Responder) with over 20 years of experience, I will ensure this trek is 100% safe, comfortable, and tailored to your pace. For your ultimate road comfort and safety, we provide a dedicated professional driver with our spacious and modern vehicles, including a Dodge Journey and a Nissan Quest.

Important Things to Know (Bullet Points):

Trail Conditions & Footwear: This is a moderate mountain hike involving uphill dirt trails and rocky terrain (approx. 7-9 km total hiking). High-quality hiking shoes or sports sneakers with a strong grip are strictly required.

Food & Snacks: Please pack your own lunchbox, high-energy snacks, and dried fruits for the trail. I will happily treat you to traditional mountain-brewed coffee during our rest stop at the monastery!

Clothing: Weather in Vayots Dzor mountains can be unpredictable. Bring a windbreaker/light jacket, a cap or hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen.

Health Restrictions: This tour is not recommended for individuals with severe knee, back, or cardiovascular problems due to the sustained uphill hiking segments.

Group Limit: To ensure maximum safety and a highly personalized experience, this private tour is strictly limited to a maximum of 5 participants.
