Meeting Point

Departure from Yerevan

- I will pick you up directly from your location or hotel in Yerevan in a comfortable, air-conditioned vehicle. We will begin our drive toward the historic Kotayk region.

Garni Trek Start & Riverside Breakfast

We arrive near Garni Temple and begin our mountain trek by descending into the beautiful Azat River Gorge. Once we reach the riverbank, we will pause to enjoy a fresh, local morning breakfast right by the rushing water,and I will treat you to my traditional, freshly brewed mountain coffee.

Symphony of Stones

We walk along the gorge to marvel at the magnificent "Symphony of Stones," standing directly beneath the towering volcanic basalt organ pipes. We will also cross the historic 11th-century medieval stone bridge.

Khosrov State Reserve Checkpoint

We reach the official checkpoint of the Khosrov Forest State Reserve and enter its protected, pristine wilderness as we follow the trail upward.

Havuts Tar Monastic Complex

We arrive at the majestic, semi-ruined 11th-century Havuts Tar Monastery on the mountain ridge. Here, we will take a relaxing break, enjoy the lunchboxes you brought along․

Trekking back to Garni Temple

We pack up and begin our return hike from the monastery grounds, following the scenic trail back down toward Garni Temple.

Garni Pagan Temple Exploration

We arrive back at the top of the cliff to explore the grand 1st-century Garni Pagan Temple. We will tour the ancient structure and enjoy spectacular views of the triangular canyon from above.

05:00 PM

Return Drive to Yerevan

We head back to our vehicle and start our comfortable drive back to the capital, concluding our beautiful adventure.

Tour Important Information

Please wear comfortable hiking shoes or sports sneakers with a good grip, as we will be walking on dirt trails and mountain terrain. Don't forget a light jacket (weather in the gorge/mountains can change), sunscreen, a cap, and your camera. To ensure maximum safety and a personalized experience, this tour is strictly limited to a maximum of 5 people. A moderate fitness level is required for the 5 km hike, but as a professional rescuer, I will ensure we walk at a very comfortable, relaxed pace tailored entirely to you!
