Sonargaon Folk Art Museum & Ancient Capital

We will start our day by visiting the historical Sonargaon, the ancient capital of Bengal. We will explore the beautiful Folk Art Museum, walk around the traditional arts and crafts building, and see the historic Zainul Abedin museum collection.

Walking Through the Ghost City Panam Nagar

Just a few minutes away lies Panam Nagar (The Lost City), a fascinating street lined with 52 abandoned, centuries-old Indo-Saracenic merchant mansions. We will take a walk down this historic lane while I share stories of its wealthy cloth-trading past and sudden abandonment.

Authentic Bangladeshi Lunch

We will sit down at a top-rated local restaurant to enjoy a traditional Bangladeshi lunch. You will get to experience authentic flavors, including local rice dishes (or Vuna Khichuri), fresh river fish/chicken curry, and a variety of traditional 'Vortas' (flavorful mashed items).

Quick Stop at Goaldi Mosque & Heading Back

we will take a quick look at the historic Goaldi Mosque, one of the oldest surviving pre-Mughal mosques in Bangladesh, built in 1519. After capturing some final photo

Experience Local Life & Traditional Weavers

we will take a gentle walk through a nearby peaceful village to experience the authentic local life of Bangladesh. You will see traditional rural houses, lush green fields, and meet the local weavers who still create world-famous Jamdani sarees by hand using centuries-old methods. It’s a wonderful opportunity to interact with the warm and welcoming locals.

Hotel Drop-off in Dhaka

After a memorable 8-hour journey exploring the history, ancient roots, and beautiful local life of Bengal, we will safely arrive back in Dhaka, and I will drop you off directly at your hotel.
