10 Best Romantic Things To Do At Night In Singapore

Singapore Flyer

blog image

The Singapore Flyer is a gigantic Ferris wheel on the bay, looking out across towards the famous Marina Bay Sands hotel. It’s the largest observation Ferris wheel in Asia. You get to see a 360 degree panoramic view of the whole of Singapore from the highest point of 165 meters, which is about the same height as a 42-story building. The night view of the city is absolutely breathtaking.

Usually, it’s a 30-minute ride on a standing observation deck meant for about 30 people, but at certain times you can enjoy a glass of the famous Singapore Sling (a cocktail) or champagne, or even have a 1-hour dinner course while seeing the sights all by yourselves. Imagine how romantic it would be to have the view all to yourselves.

Hours: 10:00 am – 10:00 pm

Esplanade Roof Garden

This roof garden is a great place to take in the night view of the Marina Bay Sands hotel and the orange lights of the city. The manicured lawns and shrubs of the garden with lots of benches to sit down on makes it a romantic spot to take a stroll and enjoy some conversation while enjoying the view. It’s the perfect place to hang out for couples.

Address: 1 Esplanade Dr.

Opening hours: Daily 10am – 9pm

Directions: Metro Line 9 to Esplanade Station

Gardens By The Bay at Night

A famous sight of Singapore are the gigantic artificial trees in the Gardens by the Bay. The “super trees” are between 25 and 50 meters tall.  And there is an aerial walkway between the trees, located 22 meters off the ground. There’s also an observation deck at the top of the tallest tower, which is about as tall as a 16-story building.

These trees are illuminated at night, so walking among them hand in hand is a perfect thing for couples to do. The illumination show of music and lights at night with the Marina Bay Sands hotel in the background is also something you can enjoy together. The magical atmosphere will definitely get you in a romantic mood.

Spectra Show At Marina Bay Sands

blog image

The Spectra Show is the main illumination event of the Marina Bay Sands hotel. It’s probably one of the best light shows you’ll ever see, so it’s a definite must-see of Singapore. The lights are choreographed to the relaxing orchestral music produced by a local Singaporean. You can see this incredible 15 minute water show from the event space in front of the “Shoppe”, which is the shopping mall connected to the Marina Bay Sands hotel.

If you want to see the show with the hotel in the background, you’ll have to travel to the other side of the bay towards Merlion Park. There will be lots of people there to see the show, especially on weekends, so make sure to get there about 10 minutes before the show starts. This exciting nighttime experience is something you want to share with a special someone.

Schedule: 8 pm (Sunday through Thursday) 8 pm, 9 pm, 10 pm (Friday & Saturday)

Raffles Hotel

Thinking of splurging on a special trip? If so, this luxurious hotel is the place to stay. The 18th century architecture with its beautiful cream-colored walls with dark wood accents makes you feel as if you jumped through time and left the world of reality behind. All the rooms are suites with marble floor bathrooms and antique furniture.

The colonial style building with its extensive verandas is the pinnacle of luxury. There’s even a butler service. Escaping the hot Singaporean sun and having tea under the shade of the verandas will make you feel as if you were the rich and famous of the colonial era. What better way to spend a romantic getaway.

Cable Car Dinner

If you’re visiting Singapore with your significant other and are thinking of popping the question, a truly special dinner up in the sky should set the scene for you perfectly. The Singapore Cable Car Sky Network consists of two lines, the Mount Faber Line which connects Mount Faber to Sentosa island and the Sentosa line which takes you across the island itself. This special, 2 or 4-course dinner will be on the Sentosa line.

Dinner in a cable car floating through the sky is not something you can easily experience, and the beautiful night view along with the delicious Singaporean food is sure to get her to say “yes”. It’s a romantic dinner that you will definitely remember forever!

Marina Bay Sands Infinity Pool

The rooftop pool of the Marina Bay Sands Hotel is surely the most famous of all of Singapore’s landmarks. The pool called the “Infinity pool” is named that because it is designed to look like there’s no edge between the pool and the sky.

It’s located at the very top of the hotel that looks like a boat when seen from afar. You can enjoy the night view of the city while relaxing in the water together or lying on one of the pool chairs. Remember that you cannot visit this famous pool unless you are a guest at the hotel, there’s a gate where your room key is needed, so if you’d like to spend a evening at the pool, book a room.

Address: 10 Bayfront Avenue, Singapore

Ce la vie (Former Ku De Ta)

blog image

Ce La Vie is the bar located on the 57th floor of the Marina Bay Sands Hotel. It’s right next to the aforementioned Infinity Pool. So if you cannot afford to stay at the Marina Bay Sands and enjoy the pool, the next best thing is to enjoy the view from next door. It’s a pretty cool place to hang out so it gets very crowded, especially on weekends, but if you can get one of the couch seats, couples can enjoy kicking back and drinking a few beers or glasses of wine.

Spending your whole trip at a resort can also be special. You can leave all your real world worries behind and just enjoy the fun. There are lots of outdoor activities, a beach, a theme park, and lots more. Book a luxurious room in one of the many hotels, and enjoy their pool and spa. Just having a beautiful room will heighten the romantic mood. For a special evening, couples can go see the Wings of Time show. It’s a magical show of waterworks and fireworks. There are so many ways you can enjoy the sunshine and the otherworldly atmosphere of this resort. Another idea for a romantic night is the dinner cruise below.

Tall Ship City Lights Dinner Cruise

I bet you’ve never had dinner on a ship with actual sails. It looks like a ship that appeared right out of the 18th century. This will be a romantic dining experience that you’ll never forget. The grand salon is air-conditioned, so you’ll be able to comfortably have dinner without the heat. Enjoy a stroll before or after dinner to see the beautiful view as the ship sails through the calm waters of Singapore’s port. It’s a perfect opportunity to tell that special someone how much you mean to them, or even pop the question.

A Last Minute Tip:

Finding the perfect romantic spot to spend with your love can be a bit difficult in a country you’ve never been to. The best thing to do is ask a local guideThey’ll know all about their own city, and they’ll be sure to have input on the merits of different places. If you’re planning to propose, it makes it that much more important that things are perfect.

You can actually request a tour to see your choices of where to propose instead of the sightseeing highlights. Of course, to keep it a surprise, you’ll need to send your other half to the spa or on a shopping spree while you search the city for the perfect spot!

Singapore

Hello I am Keith, a Singaporean born and bred. I am a part time engineer, full time traveller. As a traveller, I like to explore places where locals go to and watch people in their everyday activities. Through conversations with the locals, I get to know of their culture, customs and way of life. I believe travel should be about people, not just places. Looking for a local who can show you around Singapore like a friend would? Look no further. I enjoy meeting people and introducing Singapore to foreign friends, especially the non-touristy local places. I am sincere, flexible when it comes to the itinerary, and enjoys the exchange of culture with my guests. Singapore offers a fascinating blend of Western modernity and Asian culture. Through a series of thoughtfully designed tours on culture, nature, history, architecture and food, join me to explore some of the best (secret) non-touristy local experiences in Singapore. If you have other places of interest in mind, I can customise the tour to include them. I look forward to hearing from you soon!
