Best Time to Travel

You can make the trip to Everest at any time of the year. However, the most suitable time is between early September to mid-November. This is the time when it is autumn in Nepal. During this time, the weather is at its finest, the temperature is great, and you will get the best view possible of the region.

Winter is also great for Everest Trek if you can handle freezing temperatures. Winter in Nepal is between November and January. Fog covers the mountains in the morning and nighttime; however, it gets cleared during the day, and you can get an unobstructed view of the beautiful Himalayas.

Finally, the worst time you can travel to Everest is during the summer/fall season. Fall in Nepal is between March and July.

We recommend that travelers not make a trip to Everest during this season. During this season, you will most likely face heavy rainfall and snowfall. The trails also get very slippery, making them extremely dangerous. Moreover, you won’t be able to enjoy the view of the Himalayas as the cloud covers it up. However, if you want to avoid crowds, the winter and fall season is best as it’s the low tourist season in the mountainous region of Nepal.

Everest Trek Accommodation

One of the highest regions in the world, hosting the world’s summit, Mt. Everest, is in no way lacking in infrastructure.

As it is the touristic trail, quite a popular one, you will see various teahouses and lodges within just a few minutes of walk.

However, if you want to see the Everest region’s city atmosphere, you should visit Namche. Here, you will find all sorts of shops, including cafés, restaurants, grocery shops, bars, bakeries, trekking gear shops, and money exchange booths.

However, don’t expect much luxury from the hotels in the region. The hotels in the Everest region are not for entertainment but for sleeping and dining. You will mostly be sleeping in teahouses, lodges, and tents. Tea houses and lodges have basic facilities like toilets and bathrooms. However, don’t expect it to have more than that.

But, this is all for those who are on a budget. If you have enough money to travel in luxury, you can get a room at a luxury hotel in the region. You will mostly find these luxury hotels in Lukla, Phakding, Namche, Mende, Monjo, Kongde, Thame, and Tasha. These hotels will have every facility you might require; however, the price is in no way low.

Throughout your trip, you can find a variety of rooms while trekking. However, as high as you go, there will be less luxurious rooms. And, in the base camp, you will be sleeping in a tent.

Amenities In The Hotels During Your Everest Trek

Bathrooms and Hot Showers

Teahouses and lodges will have simple in-house squat-down or Western-style toilets. You will find either cold tap water in the toilet or a big bucket of water. If you wish to take a hot bath in the tea house, you will have to pay extra. It costs around 4 USD for a hot bath in a tea house.

Contrary to the tea house, luxury hotels will have attached bathrooms and 24-hour hot and cold water running. Also, you will get a Western-style toilet in these hotels.

Electricity

There will not be much of a problem with electricity until Namche. There are good teahouses, and they have better facilities. You will also get electricity wherever you choose to stay. However, you will have to pay certain fees to even charge your phone. Also, the plugs in the region might differ from place to place, so it is better to bring a universal travel adapter.

Foods

You can find almost all kinds of meals in the Everest region. The gateway town of Namche has various shops to get all kinds of breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Whether you want vegetarian, non-vegetarian, or vegan food, you can get it. Although you will have fewer options in places above Namche, you will still be able to have the meal of your preference.

However, while traveling in the region, we recommend you choose veg meals over non-veg. Digesting dishes with high protein like meat is very tough in high-altitude regions. Similarly, the body will constantly adapt to a higher altitude environment where the air is very thin, so if there is more stress, you can easily get sick.

Internet & Network During Your Everest Trek

One of the most asked questions is if there is internet in Everest Base Camp. So, we will assure you that you can use the internet in the base camp. Moreover, you will get reception, so you can use cell service too.

Also, the internet is very expensive on the Everest trail, so we recommend you get a SIM card. If you buy a Ncell SIM card, you can use 3g in most of the trial. There are a total of eight Ncell 3g stations along the trail. So, by getting data packs, you can enjoy much cheaper internet than the one’s teahouse, and lodges provide.
