“An amazing Day in Brunei. GoWithGuide made it that way!”
Fariz met us right as we got off the ship.. we were his VIP guests all day — visiting exactly what was promised. Being in a private van, we never had to walk very far. Fariz shared so many personal and family stories so we really got to know the country from a local. We were first off the ship so that gave him the opportunity to keep us in front of the tour bus crowds… and give us a real private view of the mosque & museum. The ride around the stilted home village gave us a real perspective as to how some of the locals live. Fariz certainly gave us a truly memorable experience! And would encourage everyone to use Erick J And Fariz and GoYOUR Guide first!!

My boyfriend and I had an incredible time exploring Brunei's water village, and our guide Erick J. from Gowithguide made it truly unforgettable . Growing up in a similar village, Erick had a deep understanding of the local way of life, and his passion was infectious. As we wandered along the narrow boardwalks, we were struck by the warmth of the locals, who greeted us with smiles and hellos. The stilt houses were a marvel, each one unique and full of character, with sizes varying depending on family needs. We saw schools on stilts, water taxis zipping by, and Erick explained how the government's modern villages were changing the landscape – with a hint of nostalgia, he noted the old villages might be gone in 5-10 years. We even saw a crocodile basking in the sun near the houses. Erick shared insights into Brunei's life, where oil and gas wealth has brought benefits like free healthcare, no income tax, and subsidized housing. Azrin, a friend of Erick's, took us upriver to spot proboscis monkeys – what a thrill! We saw them lazing in trees, unique with their long noses and shrieks. Back at Azrin's, we enjoyed tea and banana fritters with his welcoming family. Erick's story about ditching big agencies for freelance work to meet people and support smaller businesses like Azrin's stuck with me. As a bonus, Erick took us to see the longest bridge in SEA. What a wonderful day!
